I just read volume 8 only a weeks ago..

Ok, what happened, or what do you think to happened to cibo at the end of volume 8?

The best conclusion I could was,

* ICO hacked psell. that's why she falled in front of domochevski.

* Cibo intentionally copy the gene data.

* daphiner stoled data of safeguard, and moved it to Cibo.(?)

* Cibo lost her mind, because psell hacked her.

1) i dont think Iko did anything to Pcell. at the end of log45, she reforms after returning to base and collapses. this makes me believe that her abliliy to do this is not perfect and so she is fatigued/incomplete when it happens. so in log48, i think she either reforms to quickly or too many hits to the head have caused her some lasting damage and therefore she is not complete and falls off the ledge. later regenerating enough to blast cibo-angle once log49 before Killy finishes her off (and i think he does, besides the fact that the whole place turns to holy molten hell in a minute, so i think Pcell if officially out of the picture)

2) as for Davinelulinvega downloading Safeguard into Cibo, this doesnt make much sence to me. obviously i cannot read japanese so i do not know what is going on between him and the governor in the netsphere, but i just assumed that because he was silicon that he would be anti-safeguard.

3) MY TAKE: maybe when Davinelulinvega dies, he loses some sort of lock-down, or contract with the safeguard in the area (the download into Cibo happens just after he gets hit by Dhomochevsky; and Toha Heavy Industries had a contract with the Safeguard to keep them out, which they later obsolved and then the safeguard ran rampant). so i am thinking that, BOOM Davinelulinvega gets it in the head, leaving his net personality behind for a moment to talk life with the governor, but as soon as his flesh dies the safeguard move in with a powerful agent to make sure things are finshed, and they do this by using Cibo how is already connected to the local network. this however still does not explain why she kills Dhomochevsky and heals Killy and then melts the whole place, OR what Cibo is doing at the very end.

Your idea quite makes sense, so I changed my opinion about cibo.

How about this?

* Cibo was copying the gene data.

* unauthrized access to the netsphere, or illegal copy of gene data is serious crime, so Safeguard should appears to 'punish' them. Cibo tried unauthorized access in Yakima(cibo's home). In that time, safeguard was downloaded and destroyed everything.

* So level 9 Safeguard was downloaded, and she is no more Cibo. She does things just as programmed: eliminate temperate safeguard; destroy related everything/everyone.

But this doesn't explain many things..

* Why she healed killy, while killing domochevsky? it is contraversing.

* Why high-level safeguard appeared? daphiner stoled the data? then the transformation of cibo is intended by daphiner?

There are 4 kind of possibility about the Cibo.
1. Her face is Cibo, but she is safeguard.
2. She is Cibo, just blunt. She hated domochevsky.
3. She is cyborg.
4. She is angel, the hand of god. she will end this nightmare.. (Hey, It's just kidding!)

Hmm, I think our only hope is next volume of the blame!.

But before then, I think It is reasonalble to think that the cibo gains the power of safeguard during the disorder, but she lost her personality and mad. Psell caused this madness, I think. Maybe she can recover. or maybe she can be killed by killy. whether, the mysterios officer will play important role.

its meaning can be apprehend as "impulse" or something like "a certain sort of desire which is difficult to suppress".

So who does it points to? The answer is Cibo. When the physical body of Davinelulinvega was destroyed, we can clearly see that "connection" was terminated for a short while, that Seu(=Davinelulinvega) was sinking.
[remember the knight with the name "Seu", who always besides "Mensab" inside the Toha Heavy Industries?]

BUT, suddenly Seu appear again in front of the representative of the Governing Authority. Actually this "Seu" is not Davinelulinvega but Cibo, and then when the representative ask [Seu] what had [he] done, [his] answer is: "I... just can't suppress...", "want to look into the netsphere..."

THIS, is actually the answer from CIBO. For this is quite unlikely that Davinelulinvega would states his "purpose" again in this odd way, and in fact there is no "impulse" need to be suppressed, since what inside Davinelulinvega's mind is "ambition" rather than "impulse".

And, Cibo had stolen three things at that moment:

[1] The network ID of Davinelulinvega, which enable Cibo to continue the connection at the point where Davinelulinvega stopped. Iko call this trick as "double registration".

[2] The network terminal gene data (of Seu), which is always a prerequisite for the connection.

[3] The data of the "highest level safeguard", which is the direct cause for her transformation. (i.e. Cibo has herself become a safeguard NOW.)

Here is another question: Why stealing the data of the "highest level safeguard"?

the gene data was from seu, that's why Davinelulinvega looked like seu. so, cibo was looked like seu, too!!

CIBO herself becomes the highest level safeguard, this is what happened to her.

But why stealing the data of the highest level safeguard? For its power?

And this time the situation is different from the previous one that Cibo downloaded the body of Sanakan for herself. In that case the consciouness of Sanakan co-existed with Cibo's, but can be suppressed in some way.

Now, the mind of Cibo seems lost. Her consciousness "crying" in the "hell"...

Cibo hadn't stolen the safeguard data. It was Davinel. Right as he died, he jammed his hand through what looked like an invisible wall. He must have known about Cibo doing a double access to the Net Sphere through him and put it in her body.

As she fades, the dude by the stream tells her "I'm sorry, but your original self doesn't exist any more. It is a true pity." Now she's just a mask on a safeguard body, just like the victims of Sanakan's needle dingies.

But hey, she's survived having her 'net persona getting scissored in half, being stuck in Sanakan for a decade, shot through the head, and worse. If a little data capsule's all it takes to preserve her, she's prolly hanging in there somewhere.
