The backlash has begun...

I too saw Nemesis yesterday. WOW. It was truely great to watch one more trek film, especially with some of the shit they did. Digital Domain did a tremendous job, the ship moved in ways I'd never imagined, and the shots had that little camera shake as if someone was actually filming it in a space suite... I was very impressed!! I just can't get that shot out of my head, the one where the enterprise takes off when Picard and Data are safely back on board, it was mindblowingly magnificant!

The opening credits also nocked me down, the guy next to me stuck his elbow in my ribs as if to say "Fucking hell, look at what's playing before us!". Then the 'Romulan theme'? Could Goldsmith get it any more right?

And the battle at the end just took me back to that old 'starfleet academy' game. The sound system in the theater was ear pieceing. It was great fun watching Picard take command in battle - I'd forgotten what Trek was like for me!!

Now, the film is not without it's bullshit! Stuff that Logan should have had the decency to go "nahh, that wont work"

First off, Data's earlier double, B-4. I'm sorry, I thought that was terrible. Why? It just wasted time, we should have had lore at the very least - I did feel somewhat betrayed by this new found crud in the trek timeline, it was just stupid. The planet they were on was equally distracting. I understand the cinematographers creativity in over exosing the film (Actually it looked like super16mm) but couldn't the planet have been a forest wonderland and they go for some other purpose... better yet, make it Reman.

Picards clone. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't see the resemblance beyond the bald head. I'd have preferred to see patrick steward play both characters, this and have the evil clone at the begining and explain who he is there, and why he was created, then have the senate say no and leave him to die - but being 'created' he takes control anyway and then the normal events unfold. That would have been like classic trek also.

This next bit isn't so much a complaint as a question, what the fuck have the actors been doing between films. They all look so run down and hang over. Geez, do yourselves a favour and take 6 months in the gym with plenty of water before reprising your roles. Shatner did it.

Data's death was good... but B-4 just ruined it all for me.

Beverly, Worf, and Geordi got their respected 5 lines of dialogue. They could have card board cut outs most of the time.

Janeway is in it. At least Wesley fit in nicely to the scene. Isn't he supposed to be off with the Travelor in another realm. Who cares I know, but Worf is not supposed to be on the enterprise. He's a head honcho in the klingon empire - like he'd really return to tactical on the enterprise. The guy was in command of the defiant!

Ok, that said I'm going back to my old self... I loved Nemesis, I want them to make another Trek. I want them to make 'the ashes of eden" fr the next film. I want them to call it Star Trek 7: The ashes of eden. That was a story meant for the old crew at their present age.

I'll f inish with one last thought. If Spiner is so concearned with his age, why not go CGI? seriously?

Ok I'm done. Nahsayers be buggered, Nemesis is cool!
