Trek has given us all a glimpse of the best possible fate for mankind. Socially and politically. The audience for Trek will always be there. They havent gone anywhere. Give them decent story telling and remain true to the ideals of Trek and they will be the most loyal fans of any franchise. All it needs is for someone with influence to see the connection between good writing and good ratings. This can happen tomorrow or it can happen in Fifty years. There will always be people who want to see a better world- As long as its not boring.
