It is a Joke... I cant watch anymore.. I watch the first half and if it doesn have anything even remotely science Fiction I turn off. This is worse than neighbours..
As for that article-- They must be pretty pathetic aliens if they get destroyed by the Enterprize crew... Forget making things exciting, lets start by making things interesting.
There were so many great origin stories that would have been deslt with.. I thought this would be the direction of the show. What happened to zephram cochrane between FC and TOS? Did the Vger race have anything to do with the Borg? Where did the Q come from? did they start like us? Are they us? etc etc... They had a chance to revisit the aliens from season one... So far weve seen Bolians- I dont think they were even in TOS- not in any great detail anyway.
DS9 was the continuing story of the Federation-- Vger was about severing ties with the federation- What dont the makers of this show believe in the Prime directive anymore? In Vger they diluted Trek into what they thought was the winning formular- Watching The entire Next Gen series again I realised Voyager had the most in Common with Season 7 of NG-- In terms of the style of Storytelling and emphasising the "family' relationship of the crew.. There is a priduction line quality to Voyager which really wasnt there in NG- Its like all of the episodes are Directed/ written by the same uninspired people and Theres no real difference between series 1-2-3-4-5-etc... Did they use the same writing staff for voyagers entire run? it seemed that way....
Anyway.. It seemed to me that there was a Plan fromNG to DS9 which really seemed to be wrapped up in DS9.. These series were about Ethics in Empire Building...
The Suliban are retreading old territory-- Weve already covered the Paranoid- Earth Terrorism thing with the Shape Shifter storyline in DS9...
