Vikings? Sounds like a deal, I think I'm descended from Vikings somehow so it works for me. I have an excellent way of working them in.
The reality I've created isn't very different from ours, but that is half the fun. The divergence only occured during WWII - but the differences only become obvious from the late 60s onwards.
Naturally a lot of the stuff that happens in the novel is happening in our reality too in some form or other, but because it is a different reality I can comment on a lot of (ahem) heavy current-events shit (you know what I mean) in a way that would be difficult in a book that was set in our reality.
There are some twists in the structure that make it all a bit different to any books out there now.
