by Arabs in Trek

George Bush was at a gala embassy dinner the other night and that same question of Arabs in Star Trek was brought up in conversation. The Saudi Ambassador to the US sidled up to George Bush toward the end of the night and soon the talk began of such erudite matters as popular American culture (as men of high ideals do, you see).
The Saudi Ambassador mentioned that his young son was a big fan of American movies and American TV, Star Trek being a particular favourite. The Saudi Ambassador praised American TV for providing excellent role models for young children, however he was concerned that there were no characters of Arab descent in Trek for young Middle Eastern men to identify with and why was this so?
Bush simply replied "It's because it takes place in the future".
