This was phased out because it would be Star Wars ROTS. A GEN special edition would be great. Finally get to see how bad that orbital skydive scene would have been. I still remember watching the film in the cinema with my thoughts distracting me with 'how are they going to get back on Earth for that scene?'
I'm still wishing for a special edition of Trek 5 with enhanced visuals and extended scenes. Reading the novel, the screenplay and watching the film it becomes glarringly obvious how cut to shreds that film was. Further varified in Shatners trek autobiography where he was constantly being told to cut the film down more. Until he gave up and let Harve Bennet do it... which brought the film down to an hour and a half with the belief that 'more showings would make better profit.'
Screw that, if it's good enough for lord of the rings, go to some of those greater trek novels and make some of those into films all at once.
Yes I know wishing for that is like wishing for Trek 7 the ashes of eden.
I'm surprising myself here. I haven't even seen a trek nor spoken of it in God knows how long. I do know some specific details about episode 3 if any one cares
