The later years of Cheers weren't as good as what came before, and same goes with Frasier, The Simpsons, Friends... Sorry I'm struggling to find more sci-fi I've atched that's meandered off at the end that isn't Star Trek. Babylon 5's last year wasn't on par with the earlier stuff.
Why can't TV execs just put a four year cap on programmes to stop them from going shit? The shows could then have a similar structure to ENT's seasons (which will leave them with 100 episodes at the end of season 4 - enough for a syndication package and more $$$).
