Well. What if you had... Well. Ive got nothing. No wait. If i were umm. Doing a Trek. Id make it about the relationship between the Humans and Vulcans. See, Vulcans are the most fully realised race and uhh-- Well I like the idea of the Federation disintegrating from within- thats great- and Ive just seen this neat movie called equilibrium. Which is a rip off of Brave New World and 1984- But its a great movie anyway, about the highs and lows of Human emotion eraadicated with drugs by a corrupt sate ... maybe in Trek we have a Powerful group within the federation that Blames the plight of the Federation on the Emotional nature of Men-- Maybe they are supported by A Vulcan Faction that helps Humans learn the Vulcan Methods of Control, But Human physiology denies that Level of Control and most Earth Men choose not to attempt it anyway-- Then someone hits on the idea of using Borg implants to umm... Well you know.
So someone, Picard or Sisco pipes up and says "Well, we managed to live in relative Peace and Tranquility for 400 years, maybe its just that our present leaders are bastards. But its too late-- Humanity is Borg... It could be interesting-- Our Crew Whoever they may be, Performing some role on earth and watching as Humanity slowly accepts or are forced to accept the implants, as Captains allies At the start of the Photoplay are bitter Rivals by the End-- Kind of like Invasion of the Bodysnatchers--- our Ship Escapes Earth and Travels about 7 years in the Past-- They inform the Federation of the threat and Work to prevent it. News of The Future Escapes to the Public- Who Embark on an anti Technology Rampage-- We Discover Datas been (Deccomissioned) and Starfleet disbanded- A Temporal Shield is Errected around the Earth that Prevents Contact with other Lifeforms and Technology

Doesnt look much like a letter to me. Whose mining this place with Virus and what do they have against Star Trek? Or is it you lot? Theres no website that tells you step by step how to take a website down without detection. It is a subject that I have much intrest in.

Why do you remain fans of a show that ahs consistently let you down over the course of Voyager/ Enterprise run? Do you really think things will get better? I dont. I think youre all living in a frickin fantasy world. This is a very humourous site Mr Frakes. Keep up the good work. I liked you better than Picard.

But, Why not give up hope... ? I mean it could help a lot of people adjust to the new reality. It is what it is and it does not good wishin it were different. You cant take over the government and Nationalise OUR Natural Resources which should belong to everybody and remember Space Exploration is ultimately suicidal. Earth has to be the weight it is so we dont Fly out into space (or something) What do you think Space Shuttles weigh? (its a lot). Besides we need the money to feed the starving etc--
Yes I am aware that doesnt seem to be a high priority right now, but dont you think Our Leaders should atleast have the option to act righteously? What if we get a Jimmy Carter or a Bob Brown? What the hell are they supposed to do with a fricken unfinished space station that was only built to win an election? If theres a Successful Space Programme, Principled future, it sure as shit isnt going to be championed by the United States, Australia or any place that YOU live- Happy Christmas By the Way.
Yes Its Christmas, not PaganFest. Im more than Happy to Celebrate it now. If Having a Christian Holiday in a Secular State bothers you, Consider, if the 25th of December were just another holiday it would be all the more easier for Bosses to make you work without extra pay. Christianity is a Pretty Fricking Strong Union. When the Gov decides to make Christmas a Secular Holiday youl know why.
One other thing. If Enterprise cant get good scripts, Why dont they use some of the rejected Next Gen, Ds9, OS scripts that they already own the rights to? No really. Is there some legal reason cause it seems like a logical thing to do.

Well Enterprise has got two more seasons to go. And... Archer kind of reminds me of GW. I dont know if this was intentional but Kirk was based on JFK and Picard on RR. I havent studied the guys mannerisms much so i cant substantiate this.. How did they know he would win? They didnt. They covered all bases by making Archer an amalgam of GW and AG. Theyve killed Trek and I just detected another Virus so Im out of Here. Peace

In order to be a Tosser you must first have balls. Pop up Virus everywhere. Its not bothering me at all. Just get a good Virus kill. Ive got one here with me. Before I use it I have one question. Is alluminium a Conductant? As for Treks imminent departure-- Theres a huge rabid fanbase for the Prisoner and that only ran for 17 episodes 30 years ago. Fans arent going anywhere Unless were all conscripted (and they know who we are from these stupid Forums) Cant have Idealists in the New World Order dont you know. And as long as theyre Trek Fans and a W Clark Victory The good stuffl get made.

"I Havent thought of it like that" ...an epiphany... Maybe George W isnt so bad after all.
Think Ill go sign in now.

In the time since some1 last posted here, they managed to have themselves a revolution in Georgia, depose a sham leader, set a date in January for new elections, and no1 even had to die.
Perhaps it only seems like there aren't any new messages. Perhaps in the hidden spaces the world shows itself!
ps Michael Kamen rocks.

Somewhere, possibly in the mirror universe, there is a Planet Riker site where messages are posted every minute. Of course, that would be an evil Planet Riker site visited by evil internet users...

Michael Kamen, you long-haired hippy, you changed my life!
by Queasly
I'm not sure too many know or care about Michael Kamen, or his passing just today after (I find out) years of MS - but this guy wrote a score that I simply fell in love with, and when someone like that, some1 who has made an impression on one's life, shuffles off this mortal coil, well you try and think of something to say.
For a couple of years I think I honestly thought his music to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was the greatest music ever written. I was young... now the middle act of Tristan and late Beethoven quartets vie for my attention, but then every note playing on my tatty old tape seemed the most inspired, every moment held an unexplained fascination - I even liked Everything I Do (I do it for you). I went out and bought a piano selection of music from the motion picture only because they don't sell the full scores of these things in the shops (more's the pity). I found out later that the theme for Marian was lifted from an earlier ballet he'd written, because he was left with so little time to write - similarly parts of the score incl I'd imagine the (fairly) famous heraldic main theme were written in preperation of seeing the final print. A few years ago I finally got the CD - I wasn't blown away as I was before, I saw some of the limitations of the score, I could hear that the orchestra wasn't that good tbh.. but no matter. Actually I think I prefered that original tape cassette.
Ok, I'm sure this has v little relevance to some of you - but hopefully you've borne with me. I guess I'm over that music now - although seeing recently that the DVD release might have an isolated score filled me with a surprising hope (and I don't even have a player). I thought his Band of Brothers music, what I heard of it, was v good, while not accepting for a minute that it was as good as the original./ X-Men - an effective score though no real big theme... Die Hard - supposed to be excellent action scores though I always remember the Christmas carols... Event Horizon - omg I didn't expect it to be that shite...
In the end though this is about something that I found special and beautiful, and the man who created it - and the respect, and well let's just say it shall we? love for the guy. Michael Kamen, glad to have known you, you magnificent bastard.
And so I may just search out that old cassete and put it on and have a listen. And if those aren't real tears I'm weeping, at least I licked my fingers and wetted my eyes because I meant it.

Kamen was one of those Composers in a total league of their own. There was always something to be said about his work, for all those little films.
But for me, his real talent shon through on a little Aussie produced Film called Highlander.
Now there was music that touched my soul. And working in conjuntion with Queen - especially on the track 'who wants to live forever'.... well, it really did set me down this path that has me sitting her writing this at the moment, in between breaks of getting my career up and running the way that song originally inspired a vision in my young mind - all those years ago.
Bizzare. But then, it's been a bizarre few weeks.
Lets not forget the treatment he gave to Metalica when they were at the height of their popularity. And to think I missed out on that show by a mere few bad choices, but was the only one of my crowd to catch the TV broadcast which came out of nowhere one night as I was kicking back with a j.
How bout that. these things happen in threes - I wonder who'll be next.

Must have been the only day this month when absolutely nothing happened (other than the US bombing the crap out of a couple of places in Baghdad, but surely you didn't mean that).

Talking about different races - has there ever been an Arab face on ST? Has the entire Arab world dissapeared by the 24th century - is there some great terrible ethnic cleansing shame that the ppl of the Earth all share in?
And for that matter, what aobut the Aussies, or are they just rubbish at space.
Posted on Nov 9, 2003, 8:48 AM from IP address 80.225.10.149
You know, played by Wendy Hughes, had a relationship with Picard in Season 6.
However there aren't as many Aussies in Starfleet as in any average Hollywood movie these days!
The only Arab person I can think of off-hand was:
The King of Jordan is a big Trek fan and did a walk-on as an Ensign in an episode of Voyager.
A fair question as to why there aren't more - in fact I'd say that proportionally there just aren't enough Indians or Chinese either.
Hell, there was more racial diversity in the Original Series! Now we have 'Enterprise' where most of the crew are from the US, with token British and American/Japanese representation. Star Trek has moved from ground-breaking to ultra conservative.
So the chances of an Australian born gay crewmember of Arab descent appearing on 'Enterprise' would be just about zero. And that's not a joke.

George Bush was at a gala embassy dinner the other night and that same question of Arabs in Star Trek was brought up in conversation. The Saudi Ambassador to the US sidled up to George Bush toward the end of the night and soon the talk began of such erudite matters as popular American culture (as men of high ideals do, you see).
The Saudi Ambassador mentioned that his young son was a big fan of American movies and American TV, Star Trek being a particular favourite. The Saudi Ambassador praised American TV for providing excellent role models for young children, however he was concerned that there were no characters of Arab descent in Trek for young Middle Eastern men to identify with and why was this so?
Bush simply replied "It's because it takes place in the future".

I met with this digital effects dude today, and he showed me sketches and production art he'd done... and amongst it all were federation ships he'd created back before Voyager... and they looked like the current range of trek ships. When I queeried him, he told me that he knew the designer of the Enterprise E back then, and he'd been conversing with him, showing him his designs and all that.
Quite amazing.
That little bite out of all the newer ships soucer sections, well... his ship had those. And the Enterprise E nachelles... he had that style on his ships.
These guys over at paramount are all a bunch of twats.
