so how are we doing on those "healthy improvement" plans?

I have NOT exercised every day! (But I do have the exercise bike in the house instead of the garage and I manage to ride 2 or 3 days each week.)

I have NOT said no to all chocolate! (But I have managed to switch to 3 Musketeers which they claim is lower in fat.)

I HAVE been faithful about eating whole wheat bread instead of white bread and bagels, and using Benecol instead of margarine.

I could have done better. But I could have done worse...

How about y'all?

Well...

for a little while there I was floundering (foundering might be a better word ). But my knees have been starting to get to the excruciating point of late, especially when going up or down stairs and after long or relatively walking stints. I think what finally killed my knees was doing energetic and extended belly dancing (oh stop laughing! ) during a workshop I attended several weeks back.

So last weekend I made a decision about all that, and I've been chocolate-free since Sunday. It's either get the weight off or live in pain. Personally, for me there's no choice at this point. I'm kind of relieved the decision got made for me, and I know I'm going to stick with this, but not be fanatical about it. Eg, Fayee is staying over tonight and we'll have some wine and probably some chocolate. Things like that, you know? But the rest of the time, I'm eliminating all fat from my eating habits.

I think you have found the only way that will work for me... COLD TURKEY... can't have the "good stuff" (aka chocolate) in the house or I will yield to temptation!

Ya see, I get the craving, but I am too LAZY to go out to the store, so if it's not in the house I have a better chance of resisting.

Don't keep potato chips in the house either, for the same reason.

If you offer me sweet stuff, I love it, but

I can resist it mostly. BUT give me some of those cheese corn chips or barbecue flavored chips and I'm in bad trouble. Can't eat just one!

You guys are making me hungry.

Keep on with it, you guys!

I stopped by the grocery store after work because I ate the last slices of bread for my peanut butter sandwich for lunch today. I managed to buy only healthy stuff... oranges, lettuce, whole wheat bread, NO CHOCOLATE AT ALL... and my weakness: French vanilla coffee creamer which is the real thing (I can't stand that fat-free coffee creamer!)... oh yes, one more weakness: kettle corn to pop in the microwave.

Red wine and ice cream... my dad's way of drinking his wine for his heart!

Taxes could be worse - suppose we had to pay on what we THINK we're worth... ;)
