(((Shamba, Zantog, Lil and El))))
Thanks for thinking of us. Kendaa is with me for a quiet Christmas here in the moutains ..... it's very smokey and not quiet!!!!!! There are fires around us but so far we're ok. In fact this pm we decided to head off and see Lord of the Rings - when we got back the fire trucks had been wetting down the back gardens because there's a fire in the gully at the end of the road!!!!!!
I'm sure everything will be fine - whatever is to be will be:):):) We have some wonderful people looking out for us and managing everything:):):)
Thanks again ((((((mates)))))))
hugs

I can't add much to what Fayee did except to say what I saw on a banner someone had attached to the fence near the Penrith Fire Station "Thumbs up to our fire fighters - our heroes". God bless those men and women. |

Fayee's Hunter just dropped Klio and I home. I called Fayee the minute we walked in the door here and she said there was a lot of smoke down the end of their street and two fire trucks, so... I wish I hadn't came back now, but at the time, I was thinking I didn't want her {{{{{{{{{[Hunter}}}}}}}} to have to make two trips, today and tomorrow (my comp. was with us), and I was thinking that {{{{{{{{{Fayee}}}}}}}} could do with a bit of space for herself, having had people there from Christmas Eve on, but I so wish I hadn't left now. {{{{{{{{{{{{Fayee}}}}}}}}}} I HATE to think you're on your own right now. And that bloody massage - eh, it's not even relevant on my scale of priorities.
Hugs,

Lt. Retardo
| PS - on a slightly lighter note... | December 27 2001, 6:03 PM |
(I see we still don't have the previous pages of messages back up yet, so I'll add this here, instead of on Captain Retardo's thread).
So, yesterday morning we headed into Penrith to see Lord of the Rings (Fayee, Klio and me, that is). Everyone is busily peering out the left side of the train at the heavy smoke and nearby fires and the firefighters lined up by the railway line when the conversation went like this:
Fayee: Um....
(Klio and I immediately turn our attention in Fayee's direction).
Me: OH SH*T!!!!!
Y'see, there was a fire in the bush right alongside the railway line on our side. At that moment the train came to a halt - as the fire was burning for several yards along, and the driver was probably calling ahead on his mobile to see if it was safe to continue.
Anyway, we're sitting there and the bushes are burning more and more (wasn't a huge blaze by any means), but the heat was coming right through the window I was sitting next to, and I wanted to know when we were going to start going backwards, LOL. After a bit we continued on, but I tell ya, Lt. Retardo definitely wanted to start rowing backwards!!!! |

I wish I had had a camera 'cos when I tapped you on the knee and you turned your head - the picture was priceless!!!!!!
I pulled my water bottle out of my bag and said "See I'm prepared:):)" at which point Klio and Kendaa dissolved into laughter!!! But i tell ya when the train slowed down and stoppped beside it there was a general consensus of ...er ... no ... this is not a good thing guys!!!
I guess I'm kinda used to it - of course I'm aware of it and prepared (bag and papers packed by the door) but there's a bloody healthy respect for it all too.

LOL - I've gotta say, that was a look of total shock, LOLOLOL! Panic? Moi? Snicker.
On the down side, just watching the news and seeing that 6 people including two teenagers have been arrested for being caught in the act of lighting fires - personally I think they should just drop the lot of them in the middle of the bloody fires.
And then there are the firefighters who came back from backburning to find a lot of stuff had been stolen from their truck - including fire extinguishers. Just wonderful eh? Makes me want to realllllly hurt the creatures who did it.
Stay safe Fayee.
Hugs,
Kendaa |

Fayee, I am so glad you were prepared to rescue poor Lt. Retardo! What would we do without you two?! ROTFL!
I'm glad to hear you all are doing alright. We love you gals!
It's a cryin' shame about those freaks starting fires and stealing at a time like this. You're right, Kendaa, they ought to be taught a lesson. Idiots.
Shhh,

| Well | December 28 2001, 1:06 PM |
The whole state, especially Sydney and region, is holding its collective breath right now. The conditions forecast for the weekend are horrendous - up to 40 degree heatwave, especially tomorrow. But they've been backburning and doing all they can to prepare for it, so...who knows. Feel so sad about the National Park too - it's gone up yet again, like in '94, and they're saying around 80% of it's gone, which means countless animals are lost too.
But blessedly, no lives have been lost, and I'm praying so hard that it stays that way.
Fayee, you stay safe, you hear!!!

Please be safe...
Hey, I have a Xena pen friend who is a fire fighter in the Blue Mountains (a place called Lawson). He has no computer so he is a paper letter writer, and his name is John Howard, but he says he's "not that John Howard". |

Your friend has an unfortunate name LOL - it's the PM's name!
The poor guy will be exhausted I'm sure. It's unbearably hot - I don't know how they do it wearing the heavy gear they do and fighting those fires.
Lawson is further up than us and whilst no fires reported directly there, he'll be deployed down here or backburning up where he lives.

| Well | January 1 2002, 11:49 AM |
It's gotten worse. Yesterday, some unnameable moron deliberately started a fire at Pennant Hills, in suburban Sydney, so now the northern suburbs are under major threat, and the other fires are nowhere near contained, so... It's pretty grim, and I just cannot speak highly enough of those firefighters - they're awesome, they really are.
