A Sat evening to ya!

Shamba

My brother came here Wednesday and has been visiting my mom while he's here. He's staying at my folks house and fixing the security lights, checking the sprinkler syster--I knew brother's were good for something!

With stuff my mom took to her new home, the rest of the household doesn't seem quite as intimidating as it did the last few months.

We got the last stuff out of the attic, just a few suitcases in good condition. We've been sorting through whatever is left in closets, shelves--toys, games, a few clothes, tools, electric trains (those are his, not mine) some photographs/2-3 old cameras. There is a multitude of full slide trays, we found more photo albums (!) Anyway, it doesn't seem as much stuff as I imagined it would be but it's still enough.

I used to wonder what it'd be like going through this house when I was able to. Now it is just plain strange to be doing it.

I'm a dreadful hoarder and decided it would be someone's worst nightmare to actually go through all my stuff, should anything happen to me. So I'm trying to go through all the stuff crammed in all the drawers and cupboards and actually throw things out!!!

I know you're finding it strange shamba but are you enjoying some of it too? I know I've had a few oohs and ahhs when I rediscover things from years back and have a little nostalgia moment:):):)

I'm glad your brother is there

I'm kinda surprized but I'm really , really glad. I know that helps.

I know how it feels to disband your parent's home. It is weird. I remember looking at the sunrise behind the hill where it was I thinking that I would never see it from there again. It was sad. Of course my Mom, both brothers, and my sister were there so it was a bit different...there was dividing up and we all wanted everything daddy had ever touched (he built most of their furniture). Then we got home and all the grandchildren wanted something.

The only real argument came a few years later when I asked for Dixie's cradle that Daddy built just for her right after she was born. I had loaned it to every child born after and it had gone to my brother's oldest child when her baby was born. Well, when my brother remarried and the baby grew out of the cradle my new sister-in-law desended on the cradle and suddenly it was theirs, at their home ,for their grandchildren. Uh, no...

Well, Mom stepped in and settled it. It was proven to belong
to Dixie but
my brother still has it. It is to be given back when Dixie has a baby
which didn't suit Bridgett, my older daughter...but that's family,
right?

Another long story: Guess who packed up my first husband's ex-wife's
stuff at her untimely passing. One of her exes? No. Her kids? No. Her
mother or sibling or first cousin twice removed? No, no, no. It fell to
me. (You know what rolls downhill.) My husband was too busy "greiving",
as
was her daughter, and the rest of her family was too busy hiring
lawyers and decending on her home , telling me how terrible it was that
I of all people ( we never even got along) had to do the packing. Then
they hauled off all the good stuff and disappreared.
I, also, cleaned it
and delt with the business people who showed up. I kept expecting to be
struck by lightening when she arrived at her destination and saw me
going through
her porno Polaroids and such. Now THAT was strange!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you had help to go through all that stuff. Had to go through all that after Dad died, and that felt odd too, to go through his and June's things and see what had been special to them, you know? Yeah, very strange. And {{{{{{{{{{{{Fayee}}}}}}}}}} for being there for me during one of those visits to clean it all out and go through stuff.

I hope things are easier for you all now.

Hugs,
