I'm at the last one by now. I still try to hold it in, but it's getting to be too much work. So I said, the h*** with it. LOL

I've been through them all!
Now, unfortunately or fortunately, I'm stuck with getting in shape whether I like it or not. I found out I have elevated cholesterol, so I'm on a permanent change of diet and daily exercise (anything to avoid the meds!). Bleck!
Did you know that the only things that make food taste good are the things you're not to eat when you have cholesterol probs? It's true! Stupid stupid cholesterol!

A Woman's Good Night Prayer

Sent me by a friend and thought it applicable here:
Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles, please no bags
And please lift my butt before it sags.
Please no age spots, please no gray-
And, as for my belly, please take it away.
Please keep me healthy, please keep me young-
And, thank you Dear Lord for all that you've done!

Garsh, I thought those were the things you weren't supposed to eat when you had lots of others things wrong with you, too. {{Whisper}}
I found out two months ago, I have osteoarthritis in my right hip. YES, I was surprised! My mom and dad didn't appear to have any arthritis at all at least not at my age. I had no idea what was causing these little pains in my right leg/groin area. Turns out that where hip arthritis pains usually show up. and the longterm future of hip artithris isn't exactly inspiring either. It just gets worse until you can't walk at all and have to have a hip replacement! Or at least that's generally the case. This didn't do a thing for my general outlook on life these days.
The arthritis is supposed to be rather mild and my dr. ordered a bone density immediately. I'm two year into menopause and she wanted to see about my bones. But the density test of spine, pelvis and legs is normal.
I can't take hormones, so I'm on a nonhormonal bone builder, Evista or something like that. Plus, more calcium pills, less coffee! Yes, caffeine does a number on bones. And absolutely no sodas and colas as something in them eats away at bones, too.
Two years ago, I didn't take anything but an allergy pill--oh, and vitamins. now it's a serotonin replacement (something else they give women who can't take hormone replacement), bone meds, more calaciums and glucosamine, plus the vitamins. Oh, yes, an ibuprofen Rx for pain for the arthritis.
All that and the cat needs her eye meds, still 3 times a day but it's that' improving rapidly. And I still can't get rid of this upper respiratory thing that everyone in this city must have!

and, one more thing,

of course, exercise for keeping joints moving and bone building is also what is prescribed for me!
Sorry to go on about this, I wasn't going to when I responded.

I also think as I take them that better that we have the meds for bone building now than when we didn't have them!

I am so sorry to hear about your hip! That's so hard. As far advanced as we are, you would think we'd have figured out some kind of treatment that could counteract bone and/or cartilage degeneration. One of the doctors I type for is a rheumatologist, and the worst thing is seeing these poor children with rheumatic disease. You can't help but feel for the brave little souls.
Two years ago, I was taking a daily vitamin and Claritin. Now I have three daily meds for rosacea, birth control pills to even out my hormones, calcium because I'm not really 27, a daily vitamin, B6 to help balance hormones and other body chemicals, Omega 3 fish oil for the cholesterol, and Claritin and Nasacort for allergies. Not to mention the dietary changes and exercise regime.
Aging bites.

I'm beginning to think

that it's true...aging really isn't for the faint of heart! You should hear me get out of bed early in the morning - grunt! groan! Argh! Between my arthritic knee and low back, and general other back-cr@p (from way too many hours sitting and studying) I must sound twice my age!
And these days, I take vitamins & advil and occasionally aleve - no hormones yet! (knock wood). And I've spent over 20 years lifting weights (though you couldn't tell it now, since I've been back at school and fitness has taken a back seat) trying to avoid osteoporosis...fortunately, my mother and our family tend to have healthy bones, and very little problems with 'the change'. Unfortunately, many of the females in our family have suffered with or died from breast cancer....just one reason I breastfed all my kids. Well, my boobs are shot, but my kids are healthy and here's hoping my breasts will be too!

Yep, all too true, eh?

Every morning I take:
Cipramil (antidepressant - but I've halved the dosage and I'm hoping to be able to stop taking them completely over the next few months)
Cod liver oil: that's what my dr. recommended for my cholesterol problems. Mind you, I got my latest results last Saturday and it's down to the best it's been in years, with the good fats being up and the bad fats being down, so my doctor and I were well pleased.
Caltrate: calcium supplement (do NOT want to get osteoparosis thankyouverymuch)
For two weeks been taking an antibiotic without much success really.
What else? Hmmm...I think there's something else, but I can't remember what it is, LOL.
And I regularly take panadol, panamax or some other painkiller to ease the pain in my knees and hip.
Yeah, LOVE all the extra baggage that comes with getting old(er), LOL!
