I heard yesterday about Mt. Etna finally blowing it's top, and they reported thousands of frightened Sicilians taking to the streets.

I burst out laughing! I just couldn't help but imagine thousands of Vizzinis (from the Princess Bride) running frightened through the streets. So what's more scary, the erupting volcano or thousands of frightened Sicilians running through the streets?!

those people have known for years that Etna could go up on them at any time and they have continued to build higher and higher up the slopes toward the peak of the volcano. I don't wish anyone hurt or homes damaged but this can't be a surprise to anyone over there.
