Kevin Smith Trust Fund Auction

March 3 2003 at 2:16 AM
Kendaa

Kiwi Attic forwarded this to me:

I always swore I would never cross-post and yet..here I am...

An avid Kevin collector has recently decided to downsize her collection - in
an amazing feat of exuberance, she collected not just one of everything she
could, but 2, 3, or 4....sometimes more. This created a huge storage problem
and she kindly gave most of it to Julie Stoller and me, Mary Sauers.

Now, Julie and I are not without much and as we went through the overwhelming
collection it became very clear what we could do with it - auction it off in
stages and collect the funds in a special account that would, in the end, be
given to the Kevin Smith Trust Fund. So, it is with great pleasure that our
USA Kevin Smith Trust Fund Auction on eBay is announced.

Julie and I (and a wonderfully talented third friend, Linda) are adding items
to the collection as well. The amazing collection includes two Say Yes To
Apes albums, a quartet of custom dressed Ares dolls (the God of War -
properly attired, the God of Love, Jerry and another of character yet to be
determined and all beautifully done!) an autographed photo (with a COA for
what it's worth), a set of candid 4x6 shots of Hudson Leick from Dearborn
2001, and gorgeous 8x10s of Kevin from New York City 2000, a Danielle Cormack
(as Ephiny) plaque, glossy photos - some harder to come by now, as well as a
huge number of magazines both US and New Zealand, some of them very hard to
find and going back to the mid 90s, T-shirts, posters, books, theatre
programs and much more.

As I am hoping to move this spring, there are also a weird assortment of
other items that have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with Kevin but for such a good
cause, I will happily contribute whatever they might bring to the trust fund.

The auction will take place in a series of 6 sets. Each set will begin on a
Tuesday (starting March 4) and run for 5 days. The only payment method
accepted is by credit card into the USA Kevin Smith Trust Fund Auction Paypal
account (you do NOT need a Paypal account to make a payment) unless
arrangement has been made prior to the end of the auction. Payment must be
received in full within 5 days after the close of the auction or the item
will be re-listed and the buyers will pay for the shipping (there is so much
of this, we'd go broke trying to do that ourselves!). While the USA Kevin
Smith Trust Fund Auction has no feedback as of yet, you can check my feedback
at eBay under msauers100@aol.com, Julie's at jcstoller, or Linda's at
dragon6435@aol.com in order to bid with confidence.

To keep track of the current auction total, go to
www.bardsband.com/ksauction.htm. This will be updated at the close of each
auction set. Nothing can ever replace Kevin, but to be able to send this sort
of support to his family means a tremendous amount. He always gave so much of
himself, it's terrific to be able to give something back.

Please pass this on to whatever other groups you think might be interested.
Thanks much!

Mary

Sounds like an interesting little auction. Well, maybe not little huh?
I'll have to give it a look and see if there is anything I can't live without. Thanx for the headsup!

PS - the Remembering Kev tribute

March 6 2003, 2:00 PM

If you guys haven't gotten yourself a copy (from Kiwi Attic), go for it, because I started watching it this morning and it's just wonderful, and such a lovely tribute to him. I was laughing. I was crying. And altogether proud to have been a fan of such an extraordinary and beautiful human being.

I have the tape also but was wondering - did they mess up a little at the end? I got part of Lawless then got cut off. Is your video like that also?

Hugs,
Shait

I haven't gotten that far yet. Only had the chance to start watching it this morning, so I'm only half way through, but I did see the ads for Lawless during what I've seen so far. I would think they (KA) never intended to tape Lawless, as the offer was only for the tribute. The new guy at Kiwi Attic might not have realised it was going to run after the tribute.

Second part of the auction - forwarded from Kiwi Attic

March 11 2003, 12:28 PM

Hello Everyone,

First of all, a HUGE ***Thank You*** to everyone who placed bids during Part
One of our Kevin Smith Trust Fund Auction. This first set of auctions was an
AMAZING success, to the tune of $502.86! We're totally stunned and very
appreciative that with your help, we've gotten off to a great start. It
looks like we'll be able to raise a lot of money for Kevin's family, which
is a very, very good thing. To keep track of the auction totals, go here:

http://www.bardsband.com/EBAY/totals.htm

Secondly, I need to correct something from our original notice. We had said
that you do not need to be registered with PayPal in order to send a credit
card payment for the items you win. This is actually not true - you DO
need to register with PayPal to make a payment. However, it is quite easy to
sign up. If you need any help with this, please email me at
jstoller@rcn.com. If you have an aversion to PayPal, we can make other
payment arrangements, but please sort this out with us BEFORE the end of the
auction! Thanks very much for your understanding.

Thirdly, I'm happy to announce Part Two of the Kevin Smith Trust Fund
Auction! This week, we submit for your viewing & buying pleasure:

*A whole bunch of New Zealand magazines, dating from 1993-2002, that feature
Kev clips, photos and in some cases articles and interviews. A few also
feature Lucy Lawless, Danielle Cormack, and other Kiwi entertainers. These
are all complete magazines, and many are quite difficult if not impossible
to find.

*A smaller bunch of New Zealand newspapers, from 2000-2001. Some just single
pages, but most are complete newspapers. These also feature Kev clips,
photos, and articles.

*A couple of Sci-Fi 'zines (Starlog and Spectrum) that feature Kev articles
and/or interviews.

*Three posters, two of which are really big (and one is autographed by
Kevin, part of a limited edition of 50).

and... drumroll please...

*One Say Yes to Apes album (their debut, "Who's That"), which features Kev
on vocals, guitar, and some of the album artwork. Really, really, really
rare! Just 300 copies pressed and distributed in NZ (and I strongly suspect
that bass guitarist Steve Watson has a pile of them sitting in his
basement).

These next auctions will go up on Ebay Tuesday night, March 11, from 9:00 -
10:00 pm EST, and will end during those times on Sunday, March 16.

All proceeds to benefit the Kevin Smith Trust Fund.

YGG!!!!!

March 11 2003, 7:59 PM

I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines! :D I'm bidding on several of the mags (I had photocopies of the articles and even managed to get some courtesy of databases we can access here at work, but I do want nice copies for my collection), but I have copies of Say Yes to Apes and Hyphen-Smythe courtesy of a good {{{{{{{{mate}}}}}}} who posts here occasionally, and that'll keep me content, LOL! (They're not the best musical efforts, LMAO!)

And I was the high bidder on the one pic I bid for in the last round, so I was a happy little vegemite. The fund did well out of that round :D

Good Luck Mallenia!!!! :D :D

Round 5 and ATC donation addy information

April 2 2003, 8:09 PM

Round five of the Trust auction started yesterday.

Also, a while back I emailed both Robert Bruce and the ATC as they've been pretty bad of late with making the page/form for donating to the Trust Fund accessible from their site. I had an email today from Vanessa at the ATC:

"The site to donate can be found at http://www.atc.co.nz/trust/kstrust.htm.

To access this page from the ATC homepage, go to the donations link at the bottom of the page, and on the donations page at the bottom there is a Kevin Smith Trust Fund link."
