HEY! What've you been up to? Haven't seen or heard from you in FOREVER!

As you know, school stinks! I'm not even IN school, and I'm so busy with school I can't believe it! I thought once May was over, it'd be so easy. Wrong. Em is taking her gym class this summer (hasn't started yet), so she won't have to take it next year. That, along with cheerleading tryouts, means that I'm on the phone, on line, or up at the school constantly trying to get more of the paperwork that I need. Why they cannot just mail me a packet, I do not know or understand. By the time I figure out and get turned in all of this paperwork, it'll be time for classes to start.

Cheerleading for Annie is not easier this year. I thought with Em being off this summer, life would be simpler. No. Em is the squad asst to, it seems, every other squad in the area, including Annie's (which causes fights like you would not believe). That means I'm running her everywhere. Today I have to take her to a coaches' seminar where SHE will teach the coaches and directors the proper way to do certain stunts, and I will be an audience member. What HAPPENED?!

Everyone in our house has been sick with this head cold thing that takes a month to go away. Annie's all better, I'm on the tail end, Em is a couple of days behind me, and DH's is just hangin' on.

DH is busy and GONE all the time, which of course means he's not home to help drag the kids around at all... bleck. I miss him!

Me? I am a slave to my family.

Bedroom furniture that was my parent's wedding furniture. It's "Early American" painted brown to look like ... maple, I think. I'm sanding off to the paint and have discovered it really has a maple veneer! Dunno what I'll do once I get it sanded tho.

After that, my mom's new husband sold us his mom's mid fifties walnut dining room set. The big furniture is fine, but the chairs are messed up. They're kinda cool - Gareth hates em but we have 10 of them and they're part of the set. So I'm eventually gonna refinish and reupolster them. Hopefully he'll like them..

Finally, I have my aunt and uncle's wedding bedroom set. It's oak I think and from the 50's. It's been in storage for 5 years and it needs cleaning badly. I'm hoping I won't need to refinish or paint it....

I'm not real good at this refinishing tho - I keep getting distracted...

Funny you all should mention the redoing of stuff...

I'm redoing my room/having my room redone for my birthday (June 5th), so it's still an ongoing process.
It's an "island retreat" theme--Amazing how much stuff's out there for an island theme when ya' really look for it...And I *don't* mean "island" like "kitsch," I mean "island retreat," like "peaceful".

Think the cabana from "The Thomas Crown Affair" if you can't get a picture. Something like that.
(Said cabana, incidentally inspired my theme. Favorite. Movie. Ever. I mean it, I must've seen it in the vincinity of 30 times...)

I know it's pro'lly been a computer crash or two since you've been to the Castle but I thought I'd ask anyway... Do you have the chapters you compiled? When Netbabs upgraded a couple months ago it added pages to the forum and ate the CW. Shamba and I both have back ups but they're not pretty HTML formatted like yours, just 'plain text'.

Even if ya had 'em, it'd be like 70-80 posts to restore 'em, I understand if you're just too busy. But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

'Shana, I just refinished a door. It took FOREVER!!!!!!! I can't imagine the work you have ahead of you! I did learn, however, that investing in the RIGHT sander is the best aid out there. Good luck, and take some pics!
