Independence Day!

Well, we had a lovely day yesterday. I made the usual trifle, as well as cucumber salad and a fruit tray. We went to my folks where there were the inevitable other yummies, such as franks of all sorts, baked beans, pasta salad, potato chips of all varieties, and drinks of alcoholic and nonalcoholic kind. After stuffing ourselves to the gills, we went to my sister's house to watch the fireworks. They were just gorgeous this year, absolutely lovely. Then we came home and crashed. Holly never batted an eye, except to give the loud booms her own version of noise. Every so often, she would look at the sky and give a wagging bark, and then off she'd run to chase whatever varmints were around. Speaking of Holly, I've found 2 of the big ickies on her in the last month (ticks). She gets the Advantage flea and tick treatment, but I think I need to do more. I canNOT handle ticks!!!!

Of course, after all of that food yesterday, I was feeling a tad bit on the guilty side, so today I did an hour of Yoga and about 40 minutes of Pilates.

Then I ate some trifle.

Oh well. I just gotta be MEEEEEEEEEEEE! :D

Shhh,

I walked almost a mile to the park where there were booths and music after the parade yesterday, and then I had to walk back home! I did an hour of yoga class at the gym last night but NO pilates.

I went to a pilates class one time and I thought "Man, I'm not even sweating... this isn't doing me any good"... but oh how my abs hurt the next day! (Actually I have gone back for more pilates classes, but I cannot do the whole class without stopping to rest in the middle)

Mermaid, what kind of pastries? I love pastries. I could live on carbs alone.... ummmmm pastrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

Tabby, you are so right about Pilates! While I was doing it the first time, I was thinking that it could not possibly be working, as it was incredibly simple. When I was done, however, I realized that my heart rate was up, and I was tired. The next day, my upper body was just killing me! It's a mysterious exercise program, but I like it. I'm not obsessive about it. I just do it when I feel like it, but I enjoy it every time.

I'm just starting on Yoga. Not too hard, but the balancing is tricky, and I can't get used to concentrating on breathing below the navel.

Baklava! You know, with the layers of thin pastry and honey and nuts... Oh, Ba-by! And they had homemade cremepuffs/eclair thingies and next to that platter was a bowl of chocolate sauce!

May try Pilates again in the fall if it's offered again here at the college (free!). Cannot do a sit-up with straight legs yet to save my life!. I kept telling the instructor that my gut was in the way!!LOL!

Okay, eclairs are my absolute favorite food ever!!!!!

I've only had baclava a couple of times, and both times it was sooo greasy. I'm kind of afraid to try it again. Is it supposed to be very very heavy like that?

Oh please! I don't watch carbs and sugar. I don't even BELIEVE in watching carbs and sugar (unless it's watching it enter my mouth)!!

I love honey...........................
