I just talked to Shambs this morning and she told me on Friday that she fell down outside of Petsmart and broke BOTH her arms. So needless to say she will be off line for awhile. I will be calling her and if she needs me she will let me know and I'll go over in a flash. This week her brother is with her but she's not sure what's happening after that. She will probably have to get a nurse to come in and help out. I will be giving her any and all messages that you leave for her and I will, of course, keep you all updated on her condition.

Quills could you please post this at Deb U and if anyone knows what other boards Shambs goes to besides the SF Forum. I'll be checking in more often on the boards now so I can keep you all updated and get any messages you may have for her.

...that is just awful! I can't imagine breaking both arms!
How are ya supposed to do anything? Even the personal stuff! Oy vey! Oh, my heart goes out for her, please send her my
concerns! Maybe she can get a cute male nurse to visit! Hey, we can hope can't we??

There have been a few updates which I'll just summarize.

2nd hand info indicates the Dr. said the arms weren't broken they were fractured. Uh, OK. I'm left to guess that translates to "the bones weren't broken clear through, they were cracked" ??? Shams has 'removable casts" rather than semi-permanent plaster ones. No driving or twisting allowed but she was otherwise told to use her arms. She does have a nurse come by some days to help out, but I think we would've heard more details if the nurse was cute and male Her spirits are good and Shait is forwarding well wishes which Shamba looks forward to reading.

She went for a follow-up exam yesterday and one arm is doing better but the other is a little worse. After the next visit, the Dr. will decide whether surgery will be required.

I'll post your Well Wishes over at the Castle so Shait can include them in her next batch!

for the update! Cracked is better than broken through, but, nothing heavy or twisting! Tell her I said to pop those calcium tablets!

She is doing better. Only one arm still splinted, and she's doing physical therapy on both arms. She's starting to be able to do some stuff for herself She's been able to start reading.

She doesn't have 'net access anymore tho her 'puter is DOA. I forgot to ask her what was wrong with it ...

So, she can't post for a bit but she talks to several people and I'm sure we'll post when we talk to her

And yes, she's taking her calcium (I asked!)

Thanks to shana and Quilla for posting info about me the past few weeks.  My puter is still Dead, but I'm at a Kinkos using their public computers. Those email boxes fill up fast so I had to check them! I'm hoping to do something about having a live computer in the next few weeks.

I'm driving now, carefully, but driving and can get around much easier than the past 8 weeks!

Arms and hands are coming along. Physical therapy is good but sometimes very uncomfortable but it's making my arms work, too.  I've got at least another month off of work and therapy.
