It sure is quiet in here, but if anyone is still around, just wanted to wish you guys a happy, peaceful, safe and fun-filled Christmas/holiday season.
I'll be glad when Friday night comes because I have all of next week off work. First real holiday/break in two years, so I'm going to savour every second of it!
My 2006 has been full of heaps of changes, all of them hugely positive. Moved house in September and now share a house with Laurissa's sister. We get on fabulously too. The day after we moved in we went to the Shenton Park Dogs' Refuge Home to pick a guard dog (although we have a security and alarm system, we wanted a dog not just to feel safe but as company for us both too). Well, we came away with two of the most adorable little Jackhuahua (Jack Russell Chihuahua cross) puppy girls you could ever hope to see. Pookie and Pogo. Pookie was 10 months and Pogo seven months. They had been put into one of the pounds and a ranger had thought they had potential to be adopted and rehomed and took them to the Dogs' Home. We all went to look at them, including Alexander the Great (cos any dog we got would have to get along with children too), and it was instant love at first sight. So we came home with two little girls who are just beautiful. Pogo is my girl and Pookie is my housemate's girl. They've both had a rough start in life and Pogo is utterly terrified of all other dogs except for Pookie (they were kennelled together and the Dogs' Home would only sell them together as they had become inseparable) and screams in fear when near any other dog/s. Both of them need constant reassurance and affection too (gee, that's SO hard to give them - not!)
And then in October after two years as a court reporter I got a job in one of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure libraries in Perth. I just love, love, love the job (not to mention the fab pay at last!). People I work with are just beautiful people. We all get along and we all have fun at the same time as we work hard. Fab team leader too. Such a nice person. Couldn't ask for better.
And next year I'm going to learn to drive. Can't wait!
So for me life is just joyous and very, very happy and content. I hope everyone else is doing well and are healthy and happy. If you're half as happy as I am these days then you're mightily happy!
Happy holidays guys! (Assuming anyone drops by anymore!)
hey Kendaa! long time, lady. Glad to see life is handing you the sparkliest gems.

Right back at you, Elara!

They really are the most wonderful of gems! The puppy girls are relaxing in here with me right now, happily snoozing their beautiful little heads off :D
Hope you're having a sparkling life too! Happy almost 2007!!
Happy Winter Holidays!

Happy 2007, everybody! Anybody remember me? <*de-lurks*>
Good to see all the familiar faces again. (As it were...)
I read all these names during this season of reflection and realize how much support you all have given me, how far I've come and how much different a person I'd be without having known you all.
In short, <<*HUGS*>> to everybody, and Happy (Insert Appropriate Winter Celebration Here/Whatever You're Celebrating)
Regards,

(Yeah, I know--been awhile, much? <*wink*> )
Forgot this...

Congrats on the new little cuties, Kendaa!
(I've been volunteering at an animal shelter every once in a while, and I know how irresistible the little ones can be! Were I not still at home, I'd have a houseful!)
Also congrats [squared] on the faboo new job--Wish me luck for mine! <*Meep*> That's a LONG story I won't regale you with in the warm, mushy posting we've got going here, but my last job was...well...erm...*yeah*...<*ahem*> Aaaaand so, I'm in the market again. But you sound like you're doing the bestest! Glad to hear you're doing well and loving what it is you do!
Also, goodonya for learning to drive--I just got my license in Aug. 2006 (yeah, I know--CLEAR THE ROAD!) and I'm 22, so don't feel too left out. I'd NEVER (!) drive if I didn't have to, 'cuz I'm still *terrified!* <*cowers*> Put a good-sized nock in my dad's drivers'-side taillight my first night out with my permit courtesy of an ill-considered reverse...(I freaked out more than the 'rents did, though...<*sheepish*>) I can only cheer on your frankly remarkable courage, m'dear.
Hey Aquila! How lovely to hear from you! Did you get the job? Hope so! Congrats on being officially on the road. I'm going to eventually learn to drive over here too. Never too late!
Shoshana

Hope everyone is healthy and happy!
Me doin good
my dog friends are good too - Chiquita is almost 14 and is kinda deaf but is goofy as ever, Browniw will be 13 in a few days and is clueless as ever (and is barely gray... hummm) and Toby the 3 legged wonder dog had his hip replaced and is happy as a dog could be.
My ol blue car has a younger sis now, a 2007 Violet Gray Mazda6. Blue is still running well with almost 280,000 miles but she left us on the side of the road coming home from Dallas so she's now an 'intown' car. Violet is our new road car - we've had her 2 weeks and she has over 3000 miles already! (She had 5 when we got her )
Hey 'shana! Happy Channukah!!! Pogo and I are very happily rocking into Christmas here and wish everyone else a wonderful and safe holiday season. I'll wish some of you a warm holiday, but me, I'd settle for sitting in a bath of ice water right now, lol! I'm so glad the doggies are all doing well, 'shana, especially Toby.
Pogo's got waaaaay more presents under the tree, including a package of treats and plush squeaky toys all the way from Connecticut, and also a package from across the other side of the country she's just dying to get her nose into. She's even decorated her page at Dogster for Christmas:
