Lindira gave a deep sigh as she swung her leg aimless drawing circles with her toes. She stared out of the castle window, not really seeing the comings and goings of the busy castle courtyard.
“On your birthday you should be able to go anywhere you like, do anything you like, with whoever you want,” she murmured, giving another sigh. Then she giggled thinking, “If only I could go to King Arthur’s court at Camelot with Iolaus. Now that would be fun!”
“Ahem!” the cough startled Lindira as she turned to the door in surprise. “You must have been thinking of me Lindira,” smiled Ares as he strode confidently towards her. “I know the look.” He shrugged, holding her eyes with his as he took her hand and kissed it.
Lindira smiled, immensely happy that her birthday was beginning to look better and better, except where was Iolaus? Ares fumed quietly as he saw the shadow cross Lindira’s face. “You were thinking of me weren’t you?” he asked, keeping a tight hold on her hand.
“Oh, oh yes, sort of ..” Lindira grinned impishly.
“Sort of?” he questioned intently.
Lindira couldn’t look away, mesmerised by Ares eyes. “Well I was expecting Iolaus too.” She mumbled.
“Hmph!” Ares sneered, “The little jumping jack rabbit you mean? Ha! Don’t worry, he’ll be here eventually, I expect.” A twinkle sparkling in his eyes.
“Oh!” The disappointment in Lindira’s voice was obvious.
“Well, he was thinking of you when I bumped into him,” conceded Ares, tossing her a small, blue velvet pouch. “He left this little trinket for you, I on the other hand have something much more spectacular planned!!” he grinned.
“You do?” asked Lindira, carefully opening the velvet pouch. “Oh! This is so beautiful!!” she cried.
“It is?” asked Ares, peering and squinting at the small green stone swinging on a piece of leather Lindira was dangling in front of him.
“Yes! It’s so ... So ... Iolaus!” she laughed.
“What small and green? I thought purple was more his colour,” chortled Ares.
Lindira shot him a withering look and continued fingering the necklace. “Oh ...” She murmured experiencing a strange, queasy, feeling and realising the room was blurring round the edges. It stopped when she stopped rubbing the stone. A slow smile spread across her face, “Naughty Iolaus!” she giggled.
“Exsqueeze me?” asked an increasingly confused and exasperated Ares.
Before Lindira could answer they were both distracted by a huge commotion in the corridor and the sound of someone running towards Lindira’s room yelling, "Lindira!!!!!!!!!! Wait for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Ares put his hand over his face shaking his head. Lindira gleefully flung the door open as Iolaus fell into her arms.
“Don’t touch! Don’t touch!” he raved.
“Typical!” snarled Ares.
Lindira laughed, brushing Iolaus hair off this face (he was still firmly in her arms) “Calm down Iolaus! What are you talking about?”
Iolaus took a deep breath and gasped, “Don’t touch the necklace unless I’m with you. Happy birthday Lindira.” He replied, then gave her a long and passionate kiss.
As they were kissing Lindira rubbed the green stone in the necklace and wished they could go to Camelot.
“Ok, ok break up now, I have plans .....” Ares jaw dropped. Iolaus gave him a small wave and the room shimmered as Iolaus and Lindira disappeared.
Lindira – don’t disappear for more than a day, we want to hear all about your day!!!
