First of all, I want to apologise to everyone who has emailed and I haven't answered yet. It might be a while before I get around to that, but I want you all to know how much your words and prayers and hugs are appreciated. So far it's been a pretty gruelling marathon, starting with Monday and going to dad's place after I heard. I'm the only surviving close relative, so I have to do everything - organise the funeral, deal with his estate (he died intestate, so there could have been problems there, but thanks to an amazingly wonderful and kind solicitor/lawyer, things are working out, and I know that I'll be able to pay for his funeral out of the estate, thank God). Had to go to his place today and clear stuff out and go through dad's papers (it's Department of Housing, so it has to be done fairly soon), and did that with the support and help of some dear friends. Then there was the solicitor, the bank, the post office to redirect his mail to me, lots of phone calls, and so much else that still has to be done. Tonight I've got to write a eulogy for dad that the Minister will read for me, and prepare music that I want played during the service (I decided on Gabriel's Oboe and some other music from the movie The Mission, it's so beautiful).

So, I just wanted to thank everyone for their kindness, and I'll post again when I can.

there's got to be time to grieve my father. The tears come at the oddest times, but then there's something else that has to be done, and they have to be dried and put on hold, because it's stuff that simply has to be done. It's a nightmare and I just wish it would all go away and my dad would be on the other end of the next phone call, safe and sound.

I type this through tears in my eyes. Please PLEASE do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Be patient with yourself and the grief thing and be patient with all the paper work, estate stuff, phone calls, etc., etc., etc. All that stuff seems endless but it will clear up. It just takes time to work it out.

The grieving will take time, too. Be patient with that stuff as well.
