I just saw a little bit of an interview with Levar Burton and his mother on the (
gag ) Larry King Live show. Do you know what he did?!
That sweet sweet man donated one of his kidneys to his dying diabetic mother (I believe in April or May)!
I guess she finally got up the courage to tell her family that she was going to need a transplant (because her kidneys were failing, and she was terribly toxic), and no sooner had she gotten the news out of her mouth than he spouted out, "I'll give you one of mine."
That takes a special kind of person. No hesitation and no thoughts for himself; just a "let me help you" attitude. Now that is one mother who can't help but be proud of her child. I only hope I do half as good a job raising my own two.
My prayers go to Mrs. Christian (I believe that's her name), her family, Mr. Burton, and his wife and children. Good on ya' buddo!
