Smells

LOL! That gotcha lookin', didn't it? Sometimes I'm just so weird. LOL!

ANYway, it's September, and I realized that some of my favorite things about this month are the smells. I always think of freshly mowed grass and dried or burning leaves when I think of September. And whenever I smell those things, I think of school starting. And is there a certain smell to September air? I could swear there is.

Isn't it weird the way smells can trigger a memory?

The smell of:

butter cream icing reminds me of my mother
pipe tobacco reminds me of my father
carnations remind me of high school
pizza reminds me of college
baby shampoo reminds me of my daughters
Lagerfeld reminds me of my husband

Shhh,

I LOVE how smells can remind you of precious things. Here, we're heading for spring, and I LOVE the way you can suddenly smell the almost sweet scent of pine all around, and the jasmine - oh the jasmine...I know spring's on her way when I can smell jasmine and honeysuckle.

Love the smell of the bush after rain, it reminds me that life can be oh so good and beautiful; the smell in the air after a violent thunderstorm, it reminds me that I'm alive and everything around me is alive with a force all its own;

There's the scent of a particular bathroom cleaner - rather nice and almost sweet, and I've never found out what it was, but it always takes me back to the bathrooms on the Galileo Galilee, the liner I went to Europe on in the 70s, and that was such a wonderful trip for me, and that ship was just beautiful. (It burned and sank, under the name of Sun Vista, off Thailand two years back :( )

Yeah, scents can be the most wonderful things, eh? :D Thanks for putting a smile on my dial!

Chanel #5 is my mom

Chicken broiling with garlic and paprika is Friday night dinner at home...

Spring around here smells like bluebonnets ... kinda spicy ...

Right now it just smells wet. We're into the rainy season in South Texas - straight from 2+ months of no rain and 100+ temps - we're now goin on 8 straight days of rain... and now floods. And still in the 90's...

I can't wait for November ... it will cool off then, maybe...

Taxes could be worse - suppose we had to pay on what we THINK we're worth... ;)
