Response to Re: Re: BTW about MCI

you are correct i meant window and not put. MCI doesnt actually create an additional window to display the video it uses the one passed to it in the window call unless of course you dont pass anything then it creates a default one. I see no advantage in hiding or destroying the static window simply pass its handle to the window call and use that to display the video.

your correct there is no event for a window being resized this is why i suggested a dialog at least then you can.

using MPEGVideo on a non mpeg stream will have either 2 results dependign on wich MCI version (the one in windows not the dll) you use.

a. it wont work at all and return an error.
b. it will simply select and use the avi drivers instead.

if you specify nothing then mci uses windows registery (the ini on old windows versions) to select an appropriate driver.

back when i messed with mci i used it and mdx to make an exact clone of the old wmp (the non skinned dialog version). Indeed it invloved many "dirty hacks" like timers etc..

I have upon occasion considered doing a dx counterpart to mci that would allow alot of the things your looking for but i could never get around to it. Instead i wrote a Multimedia object in my sdk in the hopes that perhaps someone else would use it to do so.

Dragonzap: If your interested at all i have a msg board set up that you can use. It is of course free and hosted on an oc-12 using little else. Its just an phpBB board but your more than welcome to it. If you are interested let me know ill add you as admin to it
