Burning of forest is one of the worst way to increase percentage of haze. Reducing burning large amount of forest can be one way toreduce haze. Haze often increase number of sick patients.

If it is around 0-100, it has mild effect on health and minimum harm to environment. If it is 100-300, there is average aggraviation to health and environment. If it is 300 and above, it has big health and environmental hazards.

Economy downfall. Health hazards. Germs and infection. Malfunction of health. Environment hazards. Bad Weather. Farming ruins and difficulties.

We can stay at home more often or wear a mouth mack to minimise the inhaling of polluted air meaning haze.

Is it true that smoking causing more pollution than the haze.If so, how come the government still allow smoking and not ban it.If they wanna stop the haze, then i think they should ban smoking first.

Il-76 waterbomber - Global Emergency Response

by John Anderson

cut and paste from Muruga's Guestbook just now...

Global Emergency Response
Homepage URL: http://www.waterbomber.com
Referred By: Friend
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Comments: Hi Muruga;

Long time no check in.

Been with you since the HAZE of 1997-98.

You are one of the few people in the
whole wide world who completely
understands what we're up against with
the US Forest Service and Canadian
counterparts with the world's most
powerful firfighting aircraft; the IL-76
waterbomber, from Russia. How do you
hide such a strategic firefighting
machine?

For those of you not familiar with the
controversy, update yourselves by
reading the last few paragraphs of this
Wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-76

Make sure you also read the links.

Do not expect help on this issue from
Europe.

Do not expect help on this issue from
Australia; although to Australia's
credit, they have at least 10X the
testing that the Americans have done.

We've put in a request to petition the
Malaysian Embassy in Washington. We'll
see what happens with that in the next
days.

Glad the air cleared and hope the cloud
seeding works.

All the best;

JohnA

best photographs of the IL-76 waterbomber

by John Anderson

My favourite photos of the IL-76 waterbomber are
from an Austian airshow, taken by Robert Kysela,
who called the IL-76 waterbomber "most spectacualr
in show' at Zeltweg.

Check them out: http://www.checksix.de/html/body_solodemos.html

For videos of the plane in action, see the waterbomber.com website

I am looking for an explanation of the fact the website
www.waterbomber.com is down.

An alternate website hosted by FireGlobe, of Germany,
is kept here: http://www.fire.uni-freiburg.de/emergency/ger.htm

Malaysia's DC Embassy has been contacted

by John Anderson

You may say, they are 'on notice' that the power
of the IL-76 waterbomber could be brought to bear
on the HAZE this time.

Will they act on the information?

Anybody's guess.

hellpppppp, we are choking from the haze

by dying Malaysian

Somebody, some bloody politician must do something to tell these Indonesians we are all very fed up with the haze. Stop talking and do something before someone dies from the choking air.

Nature will strike back !

by In God's name stop this horrible act

Its really disgusting to hear Indonesian AND Malaysian plantation owners are destroying Asean environment in exchange for money. I pray for Nature to one day stike back and destroy their plantations with great floods and earthquakes!

I was at Genting last week and tasted the nasty haze - even though I was high up in the mountains - 2000 metres high. My vacation was completed ruined.

If the Indonesian Government is serious about stopping the burning, then may I suggest they shoot and kill those who start the fires. That will surely stop the burnings. I dont thing any other way will work!

no SE Asian action on the IL-76 waterbomber can be expected

by John Anderson

The international community (UN) rejected the
Il-76 waterbomber in the 1997-98 HAZE.

The Russians offered come out for the price of
fuel alone. Probably, the Russians are simply not
interested in pressing their case this time.

It was the same in the US where one agency of the
US government asked for the plane in 2000, and
another US agency rejected it. An account of
US folly is here:
http://www.aeronautics.ru/nws002/los-alamos-01.htm

SE Asia media is no help. They simply refuse to
publish material on the IL-76 waterbomber. Normally,
media refuses to publish controversy in the quality
of civil defence incriminating public officials.

Censorship is an abominable thing, but in the area
of civil defence, it appears to be the rule and not
the exception.

Radio Shack Sun Photometer

by Steven Coles

All,

Yesterday I walked into the Kenmore, WA Radio Shack store and my jaw hit the floor. Radio Shack now sells an educational sun photometer. The photometer and book are designed by Forest M. Mims, III. Price: $29.99.

I’m hoping this package will get more people into haze monitoring and maybe put some life into Haze Span.

Steven
