We purchased a kite at an import shop in CA. It is a large nylon bird, with a bamboo strip frame and 3 dimensional head, made in Indonesia. It did not come with string, and we are not sure what it requires. On the kite there is one string that originates from the tail, and another string that forms a loop that is attached at both ends near the shoulder region of the bird.
