Hi...Love this site and have reawakened my interest in kites....and I go back to the days of paper kites! *g*

Please suggest a couple of kites for a beginner to fly on the Atlantic Ocean Beach around Jacksonville, FL? I need something easy to manage, but a stepping stone to a more powerful (?) and difficult kite. I know I need to start out simple, but I want to be able to move on, also.

Thank you for any advice....

Liz

yeah,id go for a 1.8 symphony..its got pretty decent pull in stronger winds, its easy to manage and quite cheap..its a great kite for a beginer

then after a while on that you could go for a 2.2 and then a 3.3,i wouldnt go for the 2.7,after you get used to the 3.3 you could then go for some kind of blade..

hope ive helped

Beginner kite - Fanatic

You should check out the Fanatic sport kite by Prism. Try to buy a full sized kite, with a 7' to 8' wingspan. The larger kites are easy to fly for three primary reasons.

Larger kite requires larger hand motions and so therefore it is easier to fly. It is more forgiving for a beginner who over controls the kite.

Larger kites have more feedback and pull. Quite simply they are far more exhilerating and fun to fly!

Larger kites are far more stable. They have a much larger wind window that they will fly in. They also hit the edge of the wind window and hang there and wait for your input. Small kites fall like a rock right out of the sky when on the edge of the wind.

Most larger kites will also fly in much lighter winds which allows you to enjoy your kite many more days. The amount of lifting surface increases, but the weight is not a lot. The wing loading becomes much less allowing the kite to fly in low and high winds.

Check out the Prism Fanatic!
