Time for some Cosmic mischief.

Cosmetor  (no login)
from IP address 24.234.21.82

Cosmetor crossed arms behind his back and stepped into the hexagram in front of him. He said "Hmm...it is time for me to become more acquainted with this world. Wardens, prepare for the Mass Summon spell."
"Alright." Terra and Luna walked to the points of one triangle. Terra's golden hair and pure-white robe and wings glistened at the same time as Luna's crimson hair and jet-black robe and wings. And the three began chanting.
A bright flash filled the room. When it cleared, the denizens of the battlegrounds appeared inside the hexagram. Cosmetor said "Hello, everyone. I see you are all here; you are here to introduce yourselves to me, then I will send you back." Then Valen stepped forward "And what if we refuse?"
To this, Cosmetor unfolded his arms, snapped his fingers, and bands of energy bound Valen. He then said "Luna, take him to the torture chamber, lock the door , and do something bad to him." Luna responded "Gotcha!" and switched to her Battle costume (black leather bikini, gloves & boots). "I'm going to enjoy this!". With that, she and Valen disappeared.
"Trust me, you DON'T want to be alone with her. But you won't have to if you simply introduce yourselves. I will send you back seven at a time to conserve mana."
Meanwhile, in the torture chamber... Valen says "So, how do you plan to torture me?" Luna responds "I'll start with this "(turns her staff into a whip)"then i'll set you on fire and dunk you in ice-cold water. Then the real fun begins." An evil glint appears in her eyes as Valen asks "And what will you do if I answer your questions? Will I be left here to watch as my friends are imprisoned?" There is an awkward pause, then Luna says "Questions?"
-This was Cosmetor, watch out for Luna.

Contradiction.

May 12 2001, 2:10 PM

A vaguely defined Eidolon X was in the pentagram.

"You have brought about your own destruction by this." The non-eidolon said. "Everyone else is elsewhere in Existence doing useful things, save for me, who, though it's not common conscious knowledge, is nowhere and has never been in Existence except when Existence was amiable to me a long time ago. By bringing everyone here, you merely ensure that you receive the same sort of destruction that happened to me. I would highly advice you re-write your first step into this world, lest common consensus overwrite it for you, which would probably cause your destruction."

Cosmetor noted this one as insane, unless he didn't, and moved on to the next person who may or may not be in the pentagram.

Eidolon babbled to himself, though someone who may or may not have been there may or may not have overheard, and in fact, this someone who may or may not have been here may or may not have been the one who he intended to be his audience, though irregardless, it did not outwardly appear as such:
"Predicted outcome: Cosmetor's summons will be overwritten by common reality, Eidolon will be driven further back into his grave in a backlash of non-existence. There exists a minor chance of Eidolon being pushed -back- to rea..."

There was a click of a sniper's rifle, the sound of an explosion, and no one could recall Eidolon's presence there; they might remember a gibbering madman, but that was improbable as well.

The sniper's nonexistence is debatable - who would/could debate it? - but likely.

As quickly as Eidolon never was...

May 12 2001, 3:45 PM

He had always been there, albeit in a mortally wounded state. Cosmetor said "That was not a good idea. I made this room outside of time to protect it from time travelers like you. And everyone knows that a null time zone reacts violently to time travel, as you can see. So no 'suddenly, a phone was always there' or 'Cosmetor noted this one as insane, unless he didn't,' it won't work."
(Side Note: I said "hexagram" not "pentagram". A hexagram has six points while a pentagram has five and an octagram has eight. This thread was simply a fancy way of asking everyone to describe thier characters. Those are to semi-unrelated things.)
"Okay, if you won't answer willingly, I'll just have to give you some...encouragement." Cosmetor chanted for a few brief moments and a chocobo appeared at his side. "Next one to answer gets a free chocobo!"

What makes you think...

May 12 2001, 9:49 PM

"...that that was time travel? What makes you think it was even voluntary?"

Before Cosmetor could respond, Eidolon said "The common reality did. You see, I've had a bit of a falling-out with the reality of this dimension for various reasons. It has to do with, essentially, causing an entire war never to have happened. However, some others" he somehow indicated Daryl, Liquid-X and Valen, and possibly a few others- "didn't realize it never happened. Their will seems to have overwritten mine and caused consensual reality as a whole to violently deny me. Since you're new here, you were just afflicted with believing it was 'time travel'."

Eidolon sealed up his wounds and continued. "Reality's denial of me was just a few minutes ago confirmed...one could say, unsubtly. Until now, it was just subtle things - a spell not affect another, every move of mine or my "family's" becoming discretely unnoticed or over-written by reality, and so forth."

"As for who I actually am...that's too long and convuluted a story, and irrevelent considering that virtually all of my existance has been overwritten by consensual reality. Perhaps someone else here would care to explain what they can recall of me - if reality hasn't jarred it out of them..."

Really?

May 17 2001, 8:54 PM

"That's almost impossible. Terra, you take over. I need to study" Then Cosmetor disappeared.
Terra looked up and said "Wha? Huh? Oh! Uh, let's continue the story..."

Terra:...in a different format.

Meanwhile, in the study...

May 17 2001, 9:44 PM

Cosmetor: Hmm, let's see. This super-paradox should affect everybody who fought in the Bardic Wars. Especially Daryl and Valen. If I factor in the spirit burst, antipode effect, narrative power, collateral damage...it will result in a 32000% apocalypse rating. this could be a problem. But! If I use the Destiny Stone to create a paralell timeline in which the Bardic wars happened instead of the Moogle wars, and then merge them together...yes! That should prevent all damage and stabilize Eidolon X!

*Cosmetor rushed through several hallways to a room with a huge, floating crystal in the center. He began chanting incredibly quickly as we FADE OUT*

FADE IN to the hexagram room as Terra summons a large book labeled Profiles

Terra:Okay, who wants to be the first to introduce themselves?

(Explanation: The "apocalypse rating" is the percentage of a universe that will be destroyed. The "destiny stone" is a magical crystal that allows the manipulation of time. A "spirit burst" is what happens when a god dies. A "paralell timeline" can best be described as two different versions of reality being "true" or the "real reality".)

Philosophy and other big words

May 18 2001, 6:10 AM

"Sure, go on feeling sorry for yourself and saying other things about 'consensual reality'."

Everyone turned around to look at where the voice had come from. There they saw a translucent Excal standing unobtrusively near the back.

"Still dead I see," Eidolon said in a distinctly Eeorish tone.

"Oh yes, one of the many benefits of being very real according to consensus. You never get any breaks when people use spells concerning you. But that isn't the point! You're moping about like you get ignored. But what about your little side thread in the Etermina thread? You spent most of the time sitting in the Maskariol where none of us could do anything to acknowledge your continued exsistance. And the only person who could interact with you did so. As for Aosloidion and Miladi, they spent much of their time seperated from the rest of the group and when they made an action, like say Aosloidion's eating Tubba Blubba's heart or escaping with Link, it was noted and acted upon. The only reason you haven't been part of the action recently is because you're staying away from it for the most part."

Excal took a few breaths after his little rant before he continued.

"By the way, Eidolon. I've been here for a little while and I've got to agree with Selphie there. What is going on here and how'd I get here?"

"You didn't notice those three people over there who summoned us here?"

"Errr, you feeling ok, Eidolon? I don't see a soul there."

Excal, it would've been a good idea to have taken Eidolon's cue earlier on, Cosmetor. Ordering this group around ain't the brightest of ideas.

This has gone far enough.

May 18 2001, 12:35 PM

I refuse to participate in this nonsense.

Not ONLY was I god-moded, but I was god-moded into a RIDICULOUS situation. If you want to go on with this crap, it will be without me-- here's my official exit.

Valen curled his lip in derision.

:I'm outta here-- this is too stupid for me.:

He easily teleported out of the torture chamber and stalked away, muttering and shaking his head.

I had to play those stupid jokes on SOMEBODY. But it seems to have created a problem which would normally require an equally stupid joke to get out of. Thankfully this is an RPG forum.

OOC: Enough is ENOUGH!!

May 19 2001, 10:50 PM

Dude, this is out of line--

First off, it is NOT polite to just DRAG everyone into your thread. You need to create a scenario and see who shows up if you want to make a new story. Not EVERYONE wants to participate in EVERY thread.

Second, how about a lil introduction? A newbie is FAR more welcome when they JOIN an existing thread and get themselves situated BEFORE starting their own thread. For example, if Krono, a WELL-ESTABLISHED character dragged us all into a thread, it would be much better recieved than this.

Third, you pissed Valen off-- you need to be a TAD more polite than you have been. He's not likely to WANT to be in this thread ever again. Thank your LUCKY STARS you didn't GOD-MODE ME like you did him. I'm a LOT more vindictive than he is.

Fourth-- well I should say something nice. Your writing style is literate and easy to read. You have nice character descriptions and a good idea of how your character works. Why did you choose to show up so rudely? If that's IN your character-- why not set a trap in another thread-- say the Chibi Quest which I'm in at the moment-- and see who falls in, out of curiousity? Valen might even join in if he thinks that Dynast and Phebrizo would have fun fighting you.

Now, would you STOP this nonsense and ESTABLISH YOURSELF a little, PLEASE? We don't have ANY reason to respect your power (after all, there are gods, goddesses, demi-gods, etc in this group) Unless you get yourself in with us. Okies?

--Darylohki the Incarnation of the Bardic Spirit.

PS: DON'T piss off Valen again-- he's HARD to get calmed down.

OOC!

May 21 2001, 4:25 PM

Thank you for your input, Daryl. Now it's about time for my official introduction.

Cosmetor is a Demigod of Magic. His titles are the Ultimate Magician and Master of all Knowledge. His most powerful allies are Terra and Luna, who are basically his good and evil sides personified. His personality varies depending on which side is more powerful, but he always desires to learn as much as possible. His catch phrase is "cosmic mischief".Well, it IS a phrase. He can learn just about any spell. He can change his appearance between adventures. He has two main weapons: "Projector", an oddly-shaped crossbow which can shoot magical crossbow bolts that cast spells, and "Star Staff", a magical psiron(a metal which channels mana, allowing the wielder to make attacks based on magical strength) staff which restores Cosmetor's MP whenever anyone uses it as a weapon or item(Even if, say, Excal used it, it would restore Cosmetor's MP).

Did I leave anything out?

Not really

May 21 2001, 5:19 PM

Just remember to include a few character flaws for interest's sake.

For example, while Cosmentor may have the titles you mentioned, humor could arise if:

a) he got them from the mystical equivalent of a Cracker Jack box
b) he is, in fact, so ridiculously powerful any time he uses any magic he stands a fairly good chance of imploding the universe (aka the Dr. Strange Syndrome)
c) he has delusions of grandeur and believes himself to be about 11 times more powerful than he actually is. He tends towards extremely ostentatious spells with questionable effectiveness. Whenever it becomes painfully obvious his l33t sk1zzl3s aren't, he will come up with some sort of plausible (if ludicrous) excuse.

Just jump into any of the strings you feel like. This one has a bit of a stigma around it so I think you might have difficulties running a campaign out of it.

Something else to keep in mind.

May 21 2001, 8:32 PM

Keep in mind a few other things. Even though this thread will not be remembered by the other characters, it will change how they feel towards your char. So, expect everyone to be unfriendly towards your char initially. One other thing to remember, any god-moding or going over bounds is likely to result in a reaction that ain't gonna be nice.

Anyways, aside from that, just besure to check out stuff like the element system in this place in the Hades thread. And, somewhere or other there's a quick summery of everything that's happened and who most of the big players are.

OOC:Good Point

May 22 2001, 10:00 PM

I read the elements already. And now, Cosmetor's Flaws.

#1: He will stop at almost nothing to obtain knowledge; if you see someone reading in a burning library, it's probably him. #2: He uses magic for almost everything. The only sure way to stop his quest for knowledge is to take away his magic powers. #3: He thinks he is far more powerful than any other magician. #4: He isn't very patient. #5: He can't predict the future without using the Destiny Stone, which takes several days.

Good enough for you?

2:I think N/T messages are annoying, especially when they contain insulting messages.
3:I expect a response for my post about Cosmetor's Flaws.
And I'm especially serious about #3.
