Now for something a little different... This is on Andrew's Bald, one of the mountaintops bare of the usual forest cover in the Smoky Mountains, a moderate hike a couple of miles from Clingman's Dome (the highest point in the park). Supposedly, there's a nice view from up here, but when I was there a couple of years ago, the fog was pretty thick, so visibility was limited. I thought it provided a nice backdrop to this more intimate view anyway.
