Jupiter is actually 5 AU from Sol, which puts it at 4 AU from Earth on it's closest approach. And one AU is about 8 lightminutes. So the distance between Earth and Jupiter varies between a minimum of ~32 lm and a maximum of ~72 lm. A ship travelling between them wouldn't have to exceed c at any time to make it in 3 hours(180 minutes). It would have to get going pretty fast to make 72 lm in 3 hours though. | |
