Remember, he's the ambassador for a minor flunkie race of a minor flunkie race of The Hand. Meaning everything he likely knows of them has been filtered down through other races first. And even if he'd had first hand (all pun intended) experience with The Hand, that doesn't necessarily mean a whole hell of a lot. The illusion of power is much easier to achieve when dealing with primitives. A group of technomages could easily convince most races, even the major ones, that they dwarf the First Ones in power through judicious application of techno-tricks and such. The reality, however, is that in a head-on war of annihilation even some of the League Races could take the Technomages because their apparent powers are mostly ILLUSION. Sure, they can defend themselves, and do it well. They probably COULD destroy any single large fleet from one of the Interstellar Alliance races, Minbari included. But in a true war they don't have the numbers or the power base to win an extended conflict. |
