As for alien devision: You have a good point, a REALY good point and that is something that doesn't even exist in ST but for example I will run down a few reasons:
Hyach.. they have (had) the Hyachto (Hyachdoe)
Drazi.. Most likely developed in one fertile continent creating a single joined race but for futher proof they have the evil Purples lol
Centauri.. Royals and non-Royals
Narn.. were united through off worlder occupation
Gaim.. have no reason to
Pak'Ma'Ra.. who knows, who cares
Lumati.. government types and lesser types
Brakiri.. I would suspect it would be a strong class division
No other races have been given much indepth coverage. But as you have said there are splits in the Minbari and Humans.
{has anyone noticed that beyond a male/female distinction in the outer skull extension, is there a distinction between Caste in the outer skull extensions? It seemed to me the more violent the more pointy. It almost seems like the more agressive the better the extensions the better the mate like deer antlers. I suggest that it has a sexual attraction like a Peacock's tail.}
