I was thinking

stacking them. Put one significantly lower than the other on the lower part of the forward section. That way the chanced of the beams crossing or whatever won't be too great. Should give a decent amount more of a forward firing angle too. I wouldn't go with the way the Nova does, especially since if you hit one the other might be hit and taken out too.
