i always run out of mana, and i have triumphant on my scimitar of alacrity. good enough. i'm thinking of going with eyeless and goblin toe so i get good mana return and don't have to drink potions. also should is my scimitar good enough? Try trading for or finding a % damage goes to mana item. I have a helm with this and now I don't need any more points in energy. P.S. - I posted a smite variant on the lurkerlounge main forum (by accident) if any vindicators want to take a look.
P.S. - Others may have better ideas on equipment. This is my first Vindicator.

ok if u wanna be a smiteadin u need to use a spiked shield or barbed shield they have the most damage, yesd u are gonna lose alot of mana im lvl 24 now and i lose mana all the time, its ahrd at first to play so stick with it im loving my guy, damage is low though, use goblin toes, u cant steal mana or life with smite though thats the problem. dont use really big armor cuz it takes ur stamina dsown fast, use a lighter armor. well there u go o try to max out smite b4 anythign else, then a couple into concentration but not much cuz ull wanna max out holy shield b4 u gert to serious in concentration. so far my skills are like this:
Smite - 20 (max)
concentration - 1
Might (to get to concentration) - 1
blessed aim ( to get to concentration)- 1
charge (to get to holy shield) - 1

them are my stats so far im gonna start adding to holy shield on my next lvl up.

Yes this is the strategy I used and it seems to be working really well, keikean has laid it out nicely. However...check out the long thread down below about smiterdins, it will relay most of my experience and hopefully answer any questions you might have.

Nightsmoke belt and Howltusk great helm are also good because they return 50% damage to mana and 35% damage to mana respectively, which means that you won't need to put too many points into mana unless you plan on taking no damage
