good point -- crash and LNT

by pghportager (Login pghportager)

Crash is a term we use that probably sounds more violent than it really is, and can understand your question about LNT.

We're not breaking up all kinds of flora and smashing things up. We're not using machetes or anything like that. We're leaving probably the same amount of 'Trace' as a bull moose - sometimes less - take a walk into some thick stuff sometime and you'll find where the moose are really making a mess in their travels.

Crash is more of a description of the approach we take when bushwacking through a PMA or somewhere off the beaten path in Quetico. Crash = "Just go". don't stop, don't fiddle with the branches in your face, or finding that perfect spot for your foot, or the way around the muck, just crash on through and get to the other side - or the next clearing at least. Point the bow down a bit to help get the brush out of your face and move. To paraphrase the late, great Jim Morrison - "Crash on through to the other side"
