like rent cars or hotels or plane tickets, etc..

Then there's always those times, when funds are running short to begin with, and you get hit with one of those unforseen expenses where you have to take the immediate hit...the brakes or clutch go out and have to be replaced and so on. It's either take a grand or two on the card, or don't go to work for a couple weeks.

What ticks me off is that a credit card comany can raise your rates from, say 12% up to 29% in a heartbeat even if you've been on time paying THEIR card, if you're late on a cc from a different company altogether.

There are some cc companies that aren't as dickheaded as others, TOB mentioned USAA. For a credit card company I kinda like them.
