Whether it's due to time constraints, or laziness, or a lack of curiosity, I think people in the USA tend to not really look into things and think them out. Hence the overreliance on sound-bytes for information - as well as "Keep talking, don't let them get a word in edgewise" so-called journalists like Sean Hannity. And then slogans and labels and high-decibel screaming take the place of decent point-counterpoint discussions on issues. It's too bad. Our country should have a more well-informed population than other countries..or at least equal. Hopefully it improves. (I think we really hit a low level back when Dubya supporters would label anyone who disgreed with him as "unpatriotic" and "not in support of the troops" - even if they were war heroes! At least now I have the damn Patriot Act making me waste time jumping through hoops just to get a da^ned mortgage!)
(Sorry guys , I promise not to post any similar posts to this one for period of at least three months. if I fail, the first one to call me on it wins a nice new pair of wool socks.)
