Mosquitoes explosion

Last night and this morning the mosquitoes here in NW Ia reminded me of evenings up in the BW. There are hordes of mosquitoes around here making it nearly imposable to be out just before dark. I don't think I've ever seen them this bad in NE Minnesota.
We've been blessed with an abundance of rain this summer making for puddles of water everywhere. Great breeding grounds for the little buggers. We even have them in the house.
With all the rain the crops are looking great. I think this is the best the crops have ever looked in our area. This is the first time in many years that my lawn has been springtime green on the first of August. Otherwise it is usually about dead by now but now I need to mow every three days to keep up.
Thinking of a short late fall trip up to the BW if everything works out. The end of this week we are headed to the Pacific coast for a couple of weeks. We will be visiting the northern California and Oregon coastline and hope to visit several National Parks and Monuments on our way up and back. And of course we will be doing a little geocaching along the way.
