... Your data for Ansel Adams fails to take into account the Black and White/Color Correction factor which more accurately compares the wpp of color vs B&W photographs. Most experts now agree that, when the B&WCCF is taken into consideration, Mr. Adams actually is one photographer that far exceeds the 1000 wpp standard... and, indeed is in the 1050 to 1075 range. Note that there is some debate over the precise value to assign to the B&WCCF... indeed, many are now beginning to adopt the Black Shift (BS for short) which compares the amount of black ink required to print a photograph vs the amount of black ink required to print 1000 words at a font size of 12pts. Using the BS factor, Mr. Adams work has actually been rated as high as 1090 wpp. Simply put, that's a bunch of BS!
