Resorts in/near Ely?

by Bill/TN (Login Bill-TN)

It looks like my wife and I may be in Minneapolis around the middle of May this year. If so, I would like her to see the north shore, and spend 2 or 3 nights in the Ely area. She has always been glad that our son and I have had so many canoe trips out of Ely, but since she doesn't really enjoy camping, she has never joined us. If possible, I would love to find a place where we could have nice lodging but still capture a little of the "north woods" experience. Other than an outfitter's bunkhouse, the only place I've stayed in Ely is the Grand Ely Lodge. It's a nice place, but I'm wondering if there is a place on a lake that's a little more secluded, but still has a resort feel to it. Any suggestions?
