Compare and Contrast.....Falls Chain /Horse River

by (Login GeoFisher)

I'm doing a trip via the Horse River to Crooked Lake.

Can someone who has done both trips......Horse river to Crooked and Falls Chain to Kawnipi compare and contrast the trips.

I'm really concerned that I'm biting off more than I can chew with the Horse River trip. I'm taking my 12 yr old nephew, and don't want to scare him away on the first trip.

He will be duffing.......Dave B, who is a 20+ year tripper will be my bowman.

What do you guys think.......also, I'm seeing on my small planning map a 340 rod portage at lower basswood falls. Is that right??

Much, MUCH thanks.

later,

Geo
