Thanks, PFP. I had the same thought about water levels in the Crooked Lake area, especially having to do with the Bottle portage. I.e., if the beaver pond in the middle of the long portage to the south of Bottle is full, that portage could be easier than the shorter boot-sucking slog to the north.
