the little solar lights that people stick in their yards along their walks?
i picked up 4 of them at menards a couple years ago when they were year end closing them out for a buck a piece. basically they have 3 AAA NiCad batteries, a solar voltaic charging cell, an off/on flip switch, a photoeye switch and a LED bulb. i haven't done any amp or volt checks, but it seems to get a full charge it may take a couple days of good sun with the slide switch turned off. the little LED doesn't pull much power so it seems to work for what it's made for. among other things, i use mine for campsite lights.

that aside...... i would think they would work as mini chargers that would freshen AAA batteries for other uses. just leave the slide switch off so the automatic light doesn't waste power when the light is not needed.
