I'm sure you know how body shots can hurt,to the point of making you throw up!!!!
This is my problem. When I spar it's usually with a guy who is smaller as me because I'm pretty tall.So my opponents like to get close and punch me in the face or in the belly (that their only way to touch me).The problem is that my guard is high,on-guard with fists at chin or nose level. So my forearms protect my chest but my belly is exposed. How do you defend against body shots or counter them???
Thanks

The only thing i could think of is to not let them get to close. For instance, when they try to close the gap get them with a knee kick/or feint one and nail them with a leading straight.
The answer is in your post matey. You say that you guard is high so your belly is too exposed, well lower your gaurd. Then you would say my head is exposed, well raise your gaurd. Then you will say my arse is exposed, well cover your arse. Then you will say my legs is exposed, then cover your legs. The point I am trying to make is do not spend too much time worrying where gaurd should be you can not gaurd everywhere.
What I try to do is make sure I am moving as this is harder to hit. The aim of the game is to hit the opponent before he hits you. So your opponents comes in close elbow him in the face that will learn him.lol.
That is right you can protect all your body parts at the same time.I read once that to "block" a body shot you had to bend your knees, and do a sort of bob&weave but without bending your back,it would look like an outside parry but with tour forearms still in the guard.
The problem is that in class we do sparring nut also drills that go like this:one use only kick, the other one use only punches. When I have to fight with my legs i throw leg kicks, every single kick i know but when my opponent evade one of my kicks he rushes in with punches, uses forward pressure on me,and i can't back up that easily only with kicks, you can't retreat with just one leg ont the ground.however I try to hold him back but it doesn't work that much and it ends with me on the ground.
Sure I could elbow his face and launch a long knee when he come ine or kick him in the groin, but I do french boxing and we're not allowed to do that.So I wanted to know what regular boxing strategies I could use except working on my abs till they become as hard as steel.

From what Im envisioning, I would imagine crouching down. Absorbs some of the punch as your belly natrually pulls back on a crouch. And even use the same crouch to create a springing motion to your counter ? I've seen many boxing matches where guy crouches down to absorb a flurry of body blows, then spring out a powerful uppercut.
