You might want to know that doing an exersize 50+ times doesn't make you stronger. You're only increasing muscular endurance.

Actually John that is a bit of a confusing point. Doing high reps improves the density of your muscles. It takes longer to develop but the strength is greater and longer lasting. After all what is endurance, but the ability to be strong for longer.

I have a friend who is a gardener, he is one of the strongest people I know. He does not do the weight training you suggest builds strength, but does not of work. The same goes for farmers I met in the Bengal.

You take gymnasts, they rarely train with weights. Mostly they work with their body. But they apply pressure on their muscles for long periods of time, this is the same as high reps. Who among you can say gymanst are weak. Chimpanzese are incredably strong, one can rip off your arm with a single tug. Their bio is not too different from ours, but they do spend all their time climbing things i.e. endurance, high reps.

Density of muscle is the most important factor in strength. Of course the bigger you are the stroner you are, but if you muscle is big and dense then you are really strong.

I suppose the other point is that muscle is the wrong tissue to really focus on. High reps work more the ligaments, which connect your muscles to othe parts.

Question everything, Know nothing.
