Can anyone give me a good source for nutrition? Is there a software program or an good book that will give recipes and dietary guidelines. This is the hardest part for me. Sticking to good nutrition. Any advice would be appreciated.

Matt, what's up? I really don't care about that silly thing we had going back and forth on the other thread. It was all in good humor and I don't hold grudges. You needed some advice on the nutrition, go to page 6 of the webkwoon. Click on the "Body like Bruce" thread and my post talking about the best nutrition is the first reply on there. Hope that helps.

Yeah Len,

I don't hold grudges either. Sometimes its fun to raz people. Sometimes I have to go to extremes to prove my specific point. No worries here. In all honesty, If I ever met someone from the Kwoon, I would most likely buy them a beer!

Thanks for the response, I will check it out.

Nutrition is simple.

1)Eat protein e.g. meat, fish, lentils etc
2)Eat Carbohydrates e.g. Rice, Potatoes, Pasta, bananas etc
3)Eat Vegetables e.g Onions, carrots etc
4)Eat Fruit e.g. Apples, oranges, berries etc.
5)Eat Fat e.g vegetable oils, olive oils, Cheese etc.

Exercise a lot and you will develop an appropriate appetite.

Protien you need to maintain, grow or repair muscle and ligaments. However you do not need excessive amounts as your body can only convert so much in one go.

Carbohydrates you should vary according to how much exercise you do. These are what your muscles use to produce energy. Most of the diet of a good athelite will consist of this.

Vegetables contain a variety of nutriment. Onions contain a lot of anti oxidents which help reduce the chances of developing cancer and god knows what else. Mostly it is important and roughage.

Fruits are important as they are a good source of vitamins and minerals. These of course are essential for biological activities.

Fat is very important contrary to popular belief. All your hormones are made up of cholesterol even the production of sperm requires a certain amount of fat. The problem with most people is that they do no exercise and will just eat food that has a lot of fat. Both LDLs and HDLs are good for you, try to mix it in with your food as appose to it being your diet.

On the question of suppliments. These should only be taken when you have a descent normal eating regime going. They are meant to suppliment your normal diet. I would only take vitamin and mineral pills in extreme circumstances. There is only a certain amount that your body uses and it is very little. The rest is stored in tissue and good build up to toxic levels. Thus instead of making you feel good they make you sick.

Oh and drink plenty of water no ice. In this day and age a filter is also important to remove the lime and and especially the chemicals in the tap water.

Question everything, Know nothing.

Hi Guys!

My diet is pretty simple. Here are the general rules:

1. No refined sugar.
2. Very little fat intake.
3. Restricted carbohydrate intake (predominantly complex carbohydrates).
4. Lots of protein (predominantly chicken, shrimp, turkey and fish).
5. Nutritional supplements daily.
6. Smaller meals more often (protein drinks count as small meals also).
7. Drink lots of water, preferrably drinking water.
8. Two to four protein drinks per day (four on gym workout days, two on non-gym workout days).

I did lots of research into various sources to discover what would work best for me, and the above is what I came up with. As an example, this morning I had a protein drink when I got up. For lunch I had five grilled shrimp and a diet Coke. In about half an hour I will have another protein drink and half a peanut butter sandwich (on sugar free wheat bread). Before I leave for the gym this afternoon I will have another protein drink. Immediately following my workout this evening I will have a protein drink, then I will go to dinner. For dinner I will have three grilled chicken breasts, mushrooms and green beans. Maybe half a sweet potato as well. I will either have unsweetened tea or diet Coke to drink. Before bed I will drink a glass of water with two Pro hGH tablets dissolved in it. That is pretty much an average day of eating for me.

My protein drink consists of one and one half scoops of Predator protein power in eight ounces of drinking water. That provides thirty grams of protein. I take supplements when I get up, before lunch, with lunch, mid afternoon, before workout, with dinner and before bed. Of course, they are divided up and taken as directed.

This may seem like a lot at first, but once you adjust to the routine it is no big deal. This is working very well for me, and even though I originally started this routine in preparation for some extensive upcoming photo shoots, I think it will become my permanent regime!

Lamar, hey what's up? Chicken is the best meat you have on that list. Reason being is that chicken contains vital nutrients like niacin (which may reduce cholesterol and cut heart attack risk), vitamins B6 (critical for maintaining healthy immune system and nervous system), B12 (essential for healthy brain function), zinc (slows the progression of macular degeneration - a type of vision loss), and iron. Make sure you always remove the skin and never fry any of it. Turkey has all the same nutrients except turkey also has tyramine in it which is an ingrediant that helps people sleep. Milk also has this in it which is why people always say drink a warm glass of milk before bed. So if you are always training, I wouldn't eat turkey until the end of the day. The fish can be good depending on the fish you eat. You have to be careful because all fish contain mercury in them and mercury is one of the leading causes of brain damage in eating. Some are higher count while others are lower so let me know which kind of fish you eat and I will gladly let you know about it's mercury content. Shrimp is fine but it's low in Omega 3 fatty acids. You should take a Omega 3 fatty acid pill with it.

You seem to be really into a diet high in protein which is good to an extent. But too much protein can lead to kidney stones at a later time so you have to be careful because a huge amount of consistent protein daily over a long period of time puts tremendous strain on the kidney's. Don't forget to always eat a fresh and varied supply of produce. The Sweet Potato is an amazing choice since the sweet potato is scientifically noted to be the most nutritious vegetable in the world. If you are going to be eating all that protein, drinking a ton of water will help flush out any unused protein. Plus remember it doesn't matter how much protein you eat. Your body can only absorb no more than 30 grams of protein in one sitting so anything over that gets stored in your body as fat. Not that you have to worry if you work out as hard as you do, but a dark green salad with carrots, steamed broccoli and a fresh fruit choice would help out great.

I usually eat one protein source under 30 grams in one sitting (example: one skinless chicken breast or 5 egg whites and one whole egg, or one 8 oz glass of skim milk mixed with one scoop of Strawberry flavor Designer Protein) Then I'll throw in a salad that contains one dark green vege like Spinach, Romaine Lettuce or Green Leaf Lettuce. Then I will put in carrots, broccoli, a fruit choice (apple, orange, grapes, etc.) and sometimes some cucumbers. Then I will have a small carb like a small bowl of Kaishi Heart to Heart cereal (dry) or two slices of dry whole wheat toast, or one sweet potato.

Tell me what you think

Hi Lenny!

Sounds great! I have been researching nutrition since I was a teenager (back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth)! LOL I pretty much know all of the things that you mentioned in your post, but I appreciate the reinforcement of my knowledge! I take the Omega 3 caps two or three times a day, so no danger of lacking in that!

Hi John!

Actually QUITE THE OPPOSITE is true! Pro hGH Symbiotropin is an awesome supplement developed by a company called Neutroceutics. As a person gets older (especially past forty) the body produces less and less hGH, which is the main reason people start looking and feeling older, and their athletic and sexual performance lessens as well. Pro hGH is an alternative to the more expensive and injected hGH that you must either have a prescription for or dangerously purchase illegally. Most people cannot afford hGH therapy, so Pro hGH is the next best thing. Plus, there are no side effects (except for IMPROVED HEALTH)!

It consists of taking two effervescent tablets dissolved in water every night right before going to bed. Five days on, two days off. It retails for just over $100.00 for a box (one month supply), but you can find it as cheap as $56.00 a box on the internet if you search for it. GREAT STUFF! They have my endorsement any day!
