Hi everyone i am new to this forum. I studied JKD for a few months untill i moved. Right now in my new home i studied karate for a month to learn basic punches and kicks and i have been studying Jujitsu for about 2 months. Not very long.....
well anyways i have been reading about martial arts and i found a school that teaches thai boxing and i want to join. Do you think its a good step to develop my skills and who here has done boxing before?
I am also new to this forum. I boxed for three years it is very good for foot work and also teaches you you for power and good combos. I think it is very good for anyone who is in the martial arts. I Have 2nd degree black belt in kenpo it really made it much eaiser to develop power with the strikes and when it came to sparring i felt my foot work was much better then the people that never had boxing training. It is really good to help close the gap to use your other tools hope that help.
Learning Thai Boxing would help your stand up game very much. You should definitely learn Muay Thai and supplement it with Western Boxing, if you can. You will learn sound fundamentals from these two styles that would enhance your Jeet Kune Do if / when you decide to cross over. You might find that you will advance quickly in "Jeet Kune Do Concepts" or "PFS JKD" with your background in Kick Boxing. If you decide to join the "Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do" group, you will learn how to use an Unorthodox lead to your advantage and you will become more fluid and an unpredictable fighter.
