foot work

how do you all train your footwork to be quick and presise?
i have been tieing a rope which has the length of a sholder width apart and tieing my legs together and then commencing to spar and hit the punching bags. does anyone have good or better methods?

shadow boxing, or merely practicing the footwork steps over and over.

I find attaching ankle weights helps.

I found the best way is to skip rope it helps you stay on your toes and light on your feet and also what naz said footwork drills. Push drags are good for footwork, step drags, trying to keep a good shoulder width apart our were ever you fill is comfortable and you can move with no problems back, forward and sideways. I find if you work your angles alot it really helps with your footwork and distancing hope that helps.
