Bruce Lee & Time Magazine

I just read this article on Bruce that appeared in the Time 100 issue. Interesting that the author states that Bruce took steroids. While this has been speculated there exists no real proof of the allegation. The article was also used as a forum to display some anti-chinese sentiment. Overall I found the article to lack in objectivity. Kind of sad to see such a major publication like Time publish a negatively biased perspective of a man who is no longer here to defend himself.

Actually, Bruce did take steroids for some time(donīt know how long), but they were a doctor prescription for his now famous back injury. Like we already know, he did not want to bulk up!

Article on Bruce Lee

The article seems pretty accurate to me. "Pot smoker, steroid user, action hero, horrible movies, bad actor, big ego, hippie, savior to all the little people alike, geeks, wimps, pimple faced teenagers, and leader of a gang". He did however jumpstart the whole era of Martial Arts. Which if it wasn't him, Chuck Norris or someone else would of done it back then anyway. It was inevitable. Everything happens for a reason. which is why I figure he passed it was for the good of humanity.

dont disrespect the dead. they cant defend themselves but you look like a petty little man doing it. Bruce Lee was not a perfect person, but i highly doubt he would take steroids. He wasn't the kind of person willing to gain physical fitness through drugs.

Bruce Lee

With all do respect.

GET OFF BRUCE LEE'S NUT SACK! I'm sure he really appreciates all you swinging from his bag. I mean disrespecting the dead? Come on. Are you kidding me? This article rings right up there with everything else i've read of Bruce Lee, Sure may not of known him personally and wouldn't really of made a difference if I had. He I'm sure made mistakes like the rest of mankind. But for you to say " he wasn't the type to take steroids to better his physique" Yeah, this coming from a man, that was using electro kinetic machines, smoking opium and having an ego the size of the Empire State Building that wanted to beat up everyone that disagreed with him. Yeah don't fit the profile at all. The guy was a thug, gangbanger, bully, had a big head. Im not offending the dead just stating what the obvious was and is. Hell even his closest students will claim that much about him. Maybe he didn't use steroids, but i'd probably say he spent his time experimenting with them. Stop trying to defend the man for what he was not. Bruce Lee was a lame actor, who had it not been for his acting ability (if thats what it's called)he would of never even had the exposure he had to begin with.

We respect his ability, and his talent that he shared to generate a more open minded Martial Art cult. Other than that, he was not that big of a deal. He obviously was into a lifestyle that he could not handle which is why he had the medical problems and eventually died. He was a man who had a dream, and followed that dream. He just stood for what he believed in. But he never finished anything. He quit college, he quit his wife and family, he quit wing chun, he quit teaching Jun Fan, he never even finished JKD(not that it was his fault) but in a way it was his lifestyle caught up with him. You can't live a life of fast cars, big money and alot of women and it not catch up with you.

Gee, where do you get your information from? He was as human as you and me. His lifestyle was his lifestyle. Bruce was no saint, he himself will admit that. But, whoever wrote that time article needs to get his facts straight. I'm pretty sure someone like Lamar would straighten the facts out for you.

i thought it was widely accepted as fact that lee ingested both steroids and diueretics. so what if he took 'roids. i'm pretty sure their negative effects weren't completely known at the time. even if they were, so what?
he still trained harder than just about everyone and had other great qualities. that article showed no lack of respect towards lee. the article actually showed that despite his foibles and fallacies he was able to accomplish quite an awesome goal.
