It seems we are getting more and more people on here that can't spell...intentionally or unintentionally. Sometimes you can make out what the person is trying to say, and sometimes it is so horrible that you can barely understand what the hell is being said. Can anyone explain why this site seems to attact people that seem clueless to proper english and sentence structuring? Getting a word spelled wrong here or there is one thing. But the newer posts are horrid!
Personally being one of those bad spellers for me its because of my dyslexia I was taught how to spell phenetically so some times when I get real tired I slip back into it.
How many times do you need to mention english is your second language and that you use it better than most here? We get Naz, you are a superb exponent of the english language. Well done here is a virtual medal. Your the best Naz, yeaaaah Naz your best Woo hoo, I love the use of your grammar dude. You are sooo coool.
Sorry I am picking on you again. I really must stop doing that.
I think without doing too much finger pointing here, the bigger problem is not why they cannot spell but who is teaching them. It is obvious our public school system is not doing their jobs. Too much crap going on about what they can teach, how they can teach, how they can punish, who they can punish etc... On the other hand if the student is wanting to learn and sets his goals to a higher standard of education then perhaps they will gain something from school. Today all you hear of American Children is " I hate school" " School Sucks" " I'd rather be out playing, or selling drugs " or something to that effect kids are growing up to fast in the generations coming up. I have a 1st grader and he is doing more stuff in first grade then I done in 3 and 4th it seems. But my point is, those people from foreign countries respect their learning institutes and know from a younger age what is expected and as some have pointed out learning english as a 2nd language and speaks better than those who's its their first language should speak highly for itself.
Then again I could be rambling on for no apparent cause here. SO many people are caught up in this "ebonomics" BS and make it out to the shiznit and it's off the hizzie for cheezzy ya'll dig?
Hahahaha bunch of crap....Damn Rappers are running and ruining this country with their music or whatever it's called.
I Can't believe you just said that man. Your blaming public school's and rap music for spelling. LOL wow thats ignorant. I listen to tons of rap but I can spell when I really put my mind to it. That make's me really sad that people really honestly think and idea can be bad. You know who's really ****ing up the school system, people who are cutting education budgets in favor of programs like STAR WARS missle defence system. A system mind you on its last test only missed the target by 3 miles.
Plus not to mention there are a lot of very savy rappers out there. I think if you did a little more reading and a little less talking about what rap is really about. NOT just gangster rap but all rap. YOu would find a lot of what your saying isn't in fact true...
Just my opinion I could be sleeping on the couch.
PS. Fo shizzle dizzle it the big G dizzle in the hizzle fo shizzle my nizzle...
Rough translation: Hi there my name is graham, I am here for sure.

It's not only rap that has some big influence, i guess almost all music has...
If i see some other writing tasks in english class (not the main language here) then you see all mistakes like "wanna" and "dont am" and stuff like that...
Its not only the not-knowing how to spell, but also the dont-wanting...
As long as I can understand what the other person is trying to get across, I don’t really care. Bad spellers are like foreigners, you just have to listen (read) more carefully and figure it out.
Double Negatives, oxymorons, Onimonipeas, blah blah blah...its all just poor grammer and poor teaching.
On the RAP add a "C" it becomes CRAP! No seriously I truley despise this line of music. I hate it, can't get into it, fail to even want to try it. Call me old fashioned, call me racist whatever I feel Rap Music is something this world could live without. Nothing about it is worthwhile, Im sure it does more harm then good. The only GOOD thing I can see that comes out of it, and its not that good because most don't use their money for anything worthwhile but what Music Artist does no matter what era. But I just think most Rappers are too overpaid much like atheletes, and entertainers. Real music has been lost for almost a decade or longer now. If Rap is what I have to look forward to, I'd rather never hear music again.
Wow you obviosly don't know much about the music buisness or the rap buisness piroid. Most muscicians that are younger get really ****ty deals? You honestly think any one outside of the three major rap labels owns ****, Its all the record companies.
Shady Aftermath - Eminems Label
Aftermath - Dr Dre
And - No Limit to a very minor extent are the only labels where "Rich rappers" Really exist.
Even snoop dogg owes most of his sucess to Dr.Dre. I think your thinking of way back in the days when Gangsta rap was the only kind of rap you could buy like back in the pac era. No now a adays with home pc audio equipment being what it is every one can rap. BRINGING me to my point yet again YOu don't know squat about the rap industry if you think rap is all about gatting people and calling women bitches.
Hell there are a lot of very inteligent kind of rappers.
Rage against the Machine - Yep there rap sorry all your rockers out there.
Cunninlinguist
Outkast
Angel's With Dirty Faces
Hell if your ever in Los Angeles go to a place called the basement on van nuys and ventura in the valley. Im sirious shelvs full of rap that Uses no cussing is inteligent, and THEY ARENT RICH. Now I can agree some Rap is over the limits of good taste.
One personal finger I can point is at two young men. 50 cent who btw was shot 9 times, and if the person who shot him is reading this you ought to be ashamed of your self. Cause If I shot some one 9 times once in the face and he lived. I'd run.
And Ja Rule. The only person who wrote more degrading lyrics was Tu pac. But even Tu Pac only did that at the prompting of Death Row Record label head Shug Knight.
Sorry guys your throwing the baby out with the bath water. Your blaming the acts of a few individuals on a whole industry.
Just remember that rap has to be taken in context. ESPECIALLY Gangster rap. Because if you come to a city like south Central, Compton, the Bronx, Detroit, where the kind of music you clame to hate soo much comes out of. This is what these young men and women are seeing. If they rapped about the evening knews it would be no difference. They just choose to use a crueder laguage to put it in.
Some gangster rap in my opinion isnt bad. As long as it doesnt really glorify the life style. NWA The old group from way back in the day did it right they did it with a message about freedom of speech.
And one last final thing that just occured to me. Go back to 1965 or when ever it was that the beatles and elvis were real big look at there music now look at some rap songs. It's basically talking about the same things. Dreams of becoming rich, Having a cute girl, and a nice car. Only now the word bitch and Ho are used. (Mind you I have a bit of a problem with that.)
Sorry to get all bent out about this I just really dislike people who Label things And are basically just talking out of there rear. Do your self a favor ANON do some research before you open your mouth.
No sir I think you have me confused for RAP songs!!!! Pfft!
Sir be advised I could give a **** about slim shady, dr. dre and 25cent and the rest of those crack babies. Just because I do not like Crap music. GET OVER IT. Its rediculous and a pure waste of music. If they arent rich they all runnin around acting like they are king pimps of the ghetto.
I watched that SnoopDog or whatever his name is, on SNL last night, after which I did have a different respect for him, he seemed like a nice guy however he is still UGLY .
NOW BACK TO MORE martial art talk......done with the rap stuff
Well rap music is pretty much influenced from inner city life that has come out into the mainstream as the much accepted style of music listened by both young blacks and whites now. A life that is flooded with stories about drugs, gangs, violence, weapons, crime, poor education (if any), depression, fear, suicide, and racism. And if you listen to rap, there really isn't much positive things being said that really requires a whole lot of brain power. I think I would put it on the one extreme of a stick in comparison to say Mozart on the other extreme that actually helps kids get smarter in school. Most rap songs are centered around "being the man", "pimping girls", "having a hard life in the hood", "getting high", "running from the law", etc. I don't know about a lot of you, but if I had a kid, I wouldn't want him to be influenced by that garbage. Rap and urban culture, in an effort to be hip, de-emphasizes the ability to use proper english in the way they talk, rap, and form sentences. A lot of rap also encourages kids to be accepted by walking around with guns and selling drugs which promises them respect and money. People shouldn't use drugs for the obvious reasons, and the only people that have to walk the streets carrying a gun everywhere they go are people that live in fear. They don't have inner security so they think that by trying to control others or instill fear in others that it will make them respectful. Respect and fear are two different things. Fear is being stuck in a lion's cage. You don't think the lion is smarter than you cause it's just an animal but you know that it has the power to kill you. Respect is getting a degree from Harvard or working hard at becoming a positive role model and by helping others reach their potential. Rap rarely, if ever does this. As people age (even blacks), they change the style of music they listen to to jazz, soft rock, classical, etc....cause they grow up and learn to appreciate real music that requires skill and talent to perform. Any jack a s s can turn on a drum machine and make up words that rhyme that don't talk about nothing but being a hard ass, running from the law, or getting laid. That sh*t is just retarded. And there have been documented scientific tests done that have actually proven that some rap (not sure if all) actually makes you dumber. Wasn't a surprise to me....there's not a whole lot of respected intellectuals that claim rap as the kind of music they would choose to listen to. I have a few friends that are musicians. If people want to know what real music is, go to school and take music as your major. You learn to sight sing notes from just looking at them, dictate notes from hearing them played on say a piano, learn to play an instrument (violin, tuba, piano, guitar, trumpet, flute, etc.), learn music theory, music composition, music history, and learn to sing properly. THAT is music. It is a proven fact that music equals brain power. When you pick up an instrument, it helps stimulate your brain cause you are learning a skill. What would you be more proud of as a parent.....having your kid come home and say "Hey mom and dad, I started making up rhymes about shooting a cop" or "Hey mom and dad, I learned to write a symphony and movie score"?

Hip Hop (aka Rap) has it's roots in the South Bronx, in primarily Black and Puerto Rican communities. Most early hip-hop albums dealt with every subject under the sun including but not limited to partying, relationships as well as social commentaries. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 put out a song called "The Message" which was about life in poor urban minority neighborhoods. In the beginning, hip-hop rarely glorified violence to the extent as it does today. At some point it started going down hill. You had gangsta rap, the whole "bling bling" glorification of materialism and the denigration of women. These are the albums selling and being plastered all over MTV for american mainstream consumption. Don't get me wrong. Hip-Hop is still diverse and you do have many artists who are not modern day minstrells out to make a quick buck by playing into the stereotypes that other's do. It's just that their albums rarely make it into the Billboard charts.
There are Rap Artists out there today who make good statements about the world, Naz(the Rapper) has a song that talks to the kids about getting educated and not falling into the trap of guns and drugs, it speaks of the Egyptians and history. Outkast used to have more of a positive message in their raps, and their message is still not a bad one today. Black Eyed Peas rap a lot on social commentaries.
Even Eminem if you really listen to the lyrics and read between the lines in a lot of his songs actually have positive messages. He brings up interesting points about those who believe Rap is the reason for all the problems with the kids of today with lines like, "Don't blame me if little Eric jumps off of the terrace, you should've been watching 'em, apparently you ain't parents" I also read an article written by some major poetry guy who compares Eminem's rap ability to that of some of the great poets of the past. It isn't all just finding some words to rhyme together and a beat. If you listened to some of Eminem's music, besides the jokey stuff on the radio, you'd see that his are intricate stories woven with incredible rhyme and rhythm.
But I'm not trying to saying everyone should listen to rap or that everyone shouldn't listen to rap. More that just because one person doesn't like rap doesn't mean there isn't a place for it in this world or that it is complete crap. It just means you have your own taste in what you like, and it doesn't include rap. Why is it that most of us, if we don't like something, just bash on it and say it is stupid. The number one reason is insecurity, otherwise if they were secure with themselves they just wouldn't like it and not care who knew how they felt about it.
I don't listen to Hindu music or Country music, doesn't mean I think it is just plain stupid and should be done away with. No, I just don't listen to it. It obviously has its place in the world and some people like it or else it wouldn't be here.
Saying you don't like something is fine, everybody has different tastes in things. But when a person bashes something and disregards it completely as being a waste or stupid, just shows them as an ignorant fool. As a person who can't understand or is too close minded to understand that there is more to the world than only their views. Quit being so self-important. If you don't like rap music there are little nobs or buttons to change the station.

yeah, yah, yah....I still dont like Rap anymore today than I did yesterday so all your boo hoo'ing over the keyboard isn't working. Talk all the mambo ghetto jumbo you wish and for all I care rhyme a lyric till it can't be rhymed no more. But the fact remains that Rap music is the least important and the least talented group of musicians I have ever heard. Hell I hate to even refer to them as "musicians". Got a name like Big Small, Snoop Dog, AJ, or acronyms like C.o.o.l, N.W.A., and names like "outcast", etc... it's just a bunch of garbage in and garbage out. This poor excuse that Rap music is for the poor people, or inner city urban life etc... another bunch of crap to sell to the kids to make them feel like they aren't worth a bean. If they would just get a damn job like the rest of America out here does, and have a mortgage, and car payment, and buy their own groceries and not recieve Food Stamps and work the GOVT (and yes thats a stereotype) butif the shoe fits right? Govt' assistance is fine for a minimal amount of time but damn using it for 20+ yrs? what the hell keep on living the life of a wanna be gangbanger and listen to the poor mans music to make you feel important.
Rap actully has been traced back further to slave times where a game called "your moma" was used to make fun of the master with out him knowing. Much like battle rappers now use cyphers to try new material.
Not to mention that great bands like the gratefull dead glorified a deviant life style. So why arent you lambasting them too? Hmm could it be something else. Are your complaints more forum then substance. I think you just like complaining I agree. If you don't like just don't listen to it but don't ram your uneducated opinion down peoples throats because you feel obligated to be right all the time.

Current Topic - Why is this site attracting bad spellers?
